She attended Dominican Convent School in Johannesburg between 2001 and 2012 and later continued her studies at Wits University, where she majored in Media and Anthropology.<\/p>\n<p>She first became interested in writing poetry when she was just eleven years old. Valentine&#8217;s Day was her debut composition and it was published by Poetry Institute of Africa under the Anthology &#8211; Fairytale Moon.<\/p>\n<p>LaMayne also enrolled in an exchange program in England through the Branson Scholarship Program. With her outstanding performance (she took second place), she caught everyone&#8217;s attention.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Where Is Gigi Lamayne From?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Gigi LaMayne was born in South Africa, but she is of Zimbabwean descent. In a 2014 interview, she admitted that Zimbabwe was partly to responsible for influencing her musical tastes.<\/p>\n<p>While Gigi&#8217;s grandmother is originally from a little town called Nkayi in the province of Matabeleland North, her mother, Sarah, was born and raised in Bulawayo. She has a father who is also from Zimbabwe, although nobody knows where he was born. The name of her paternal grandfather is Fiva.<\/p>\n<p>Gigi LaMayne visits her family in Zimbabwe once every year. With cooperation from Munya &#8220;Lym C&#8221; Chanetsa, Mitchan &#8220;Pinkaso&#8221; Adams, Clint Allin, and Scratchbeats Records, she released her debut mixtape titled El Principio-16.<\/p>\n<p>Following her victory in the Shiz Niz Mixtape contest, Gigi Lamayne inked a record deal with Bentey Records.
