Her father was a successful engineer, while her mother was an opera singer. According to Jolene&#8217;s words, both parents ensured that they instilled a very strong value system in their children. She was chosen to give a dramatic speech on the importance of change in society.<\/p>\n<p>Jolene Martin was only one of two students selected from the whole world to speak at the auspicious UN ceremony, an honor she remains grateful for to this day. To date, she refers to this as her biggest achievement. The TV personality has jokingly admitted that she doesn&#8217;t know how to outdo what she accomplished at such a young age.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>She Began Her Career as an Actress and TV Show Host<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Jolene&#8217;s career has had her traveling the world. Now based in Johannesburg, she is no longer the small-town girl she used to be. Jolene Martin&#8217;s career began professionally in 1992 when she was just 13 years old.<\/p>\n<p>She gained the attention of a television producer who saw how immensely talented the young star was. She was immediately hired as a Cape Town field presenter for Eco-Vision. The show was a program meant to spread awareness among the young people of South Africa on the importance of environmental cleanliness. It was sponsored by the SABC.<\/p>\n<p>Theatre icon Janice Honeyman took note of Jolene when she was cast as the lead in Grease in 1998. Jolene&#8217;s parents moved to Johannesburg after Janice persuaded them that it would be beneficial for their daughter to do so.<\/p>\n<p>She packed her bags and was soon taking the lead roles in Janice&#8217;s pantomimes, particularly in <em>&#8216;Little Shop of Horrors&#8217;<\/em> throughout the duration of its run.
