Lady Du was not married but only engaged to Andile Mxakaza for over a year before they separated in late 2021. Though their relationship didn’t produce any child, Lady Du has a daughter named Mia.
Who is Lady Du’s Husband?
Lady Du, whose real name is Duduzile Ngwenya, only got engaged to former Isibaya actor Andile Mxakaza and was never known to be married to him. Nonetheless, the amapiano star once referred to Andile as “hubby” in an IG post while celebrating their first engagement anniversary in August 2021. Lady Du’s ex-fiancé is a South African actor and model. He was born on May 11th, 1978.
Andile Mxakaza rose to fame for playing the role of Sgonodo in Zone 14. He debuted in the SABC1 drama series in the second season and left the show in the fourth season. The Johannesburg native also had a recurring role as Fezile in the Mzansi Magic soapie, Isibaya. He was part of the show’s cast members from season one to season eight when it was canceled.
Meanwhile, in 2008, Lady Du’s former partner scored a cameo role as a Handsome Man in the M-Net drama series Jacob’s Cross. In that same year, he participated in a model search competition, Men’s Health Look, and emerged as one of the finalists. The 45 years old now works as an exercise specialist, having had a keen interest in kickboxing.
Lady Du Got Engaged to Andile Mxakaza in 2020
Amapiano star Lady Du got engaged to her man, Andile Mxakaza, in August 2020, four months after they met. The two had known each other for several years before they got reunited in March 2020. At the time, the ‘Dakiwe’ hitmaker was not in a good space, mentally or emotionally.
Four months before she met Andile, Lady Du suffered from depression and attempted suicide. She was subsequently hospitalized. After she was discharged from the hospital, she went for counseling and was advised to start going out. Amazingly, on her first outing, she met Andile Mxakaza, and after explaining her situation to the actor, he began counseling her.
He prayed with her and also became her confidant. Andile promised the DJ never to leave her and then moved on to fulfill his promise in August 2020 when he proposed to her. Lady Du said yes to his proposal. Afterward, she started gushing about her fiancé and was grateful to him for treating her as a queen. She said Andile Mxakaza taught her a new kind of love and had shown her unconditional love and respect.
Later in May 2021, which was the couple’s birthday month, Andile felt that the amapiano singer deserved a more beautiful ring than the one he gave her. As such, he upgraded the engagement ring a few weeks before Lady Du’s birthday.
Is Lady Du Still Married?
After more than one year of what seemed like a blissful relationship, Lady Du and Andile Mxakaza broke their fans’ hearts when they announced their split on Instagram in January 2022. The ‘Umsebenzi Wethu’ singer separated from her fiancé in late 2021 but decided to share the news with her fans in early 2022.
Lady Du cited that they followed their hearts and didn’t break up. She revealed in the now-deleted Instagram post that she decided to leave her relationship before things went south as a result of the constant attacks she was getting from people she didn’t know. She further stated that because of her culture, people attacked her character, scratched her cars, and made her uncomfortable in her relationship.
Andile Mxakaza later apologized to the singer for not finding peace in their relationship and wished her well. He then asserted that muti played a role in their separation.
What Happened to Lady Du’s Child?
Lady Du became a mother while in her mid-twenties. She had her daughter, Mia, on October 9th, 2016. The two are very close, and Duduzile calls her baby girl the love of her life. During Mia’s fifth birthday in October 2021, the proud mother hosted a Frozen-themed birthday party for her at creche.
The father of her child, however, is unknown, and the award-winning DJ didn’t have any child together with her ex-fiancé, Andile Mxakaza.
