After completing her studies at the University of Cape Town, Fikile Mthwalo joined Gambit Films as a production coordinator in 2012. She also worked as an intern at Homebrew Films in that same year. Meanwhile, in 2010, she tried her hands at TV presenting and emerged as one of the Top 24 finalists along with Khanyi Mbau in an O-Access Presenter Search on Channel O.
Eventually, her acting career took off in 2014 when she landed the role of Ntombizakhe “Zak” Khumalo in the SABC3 soapie, Isidingo. In April 2020, Atandwa Kani’s significant other established Glubbs – a biodegradable disposable glove company in the New York City Metropolitan Area. The company sells medical-grade examination gloves in varieties of colors and designer prints. The gloves come in convenient travel sizes, and Glubbs aim to manufacture sustainable gloves that break down 10 times faster than conventional gloves in a biologically active landfill.
As part of American Express’ Founders of Change Initiative to provide financial and educational assistance to 100 black female business owners, Fikile Mthwalo’s Glubbs received American Express grant and mentorship prize.
