Though Buhle Samuel and her husband wanted their civil wedding ceremony to be a secret and not to make headlines on social media, pictures of the lavish wedding ceremony still found their way to the internet. The wedding was a private affair, and only close friends and family were in attendance.
Among the celebrity guests that graced the sumptuous private event are Yonda Thomas, Tamaryn Green, Natalie Hlahla, Khanya Mkangisa, Phindile Gwala, K. Naomi Phakathi, and Jabulani Ngcobo. The ceremony was organized by celebrity event planner Londiwe Mazwide of Andimahle Building Events.
While sharing their experience at the wedding, some of the guests said it was something they have never witnessed before as Buhle Samuels’ husband was moving around the arena with bouncers. The guests were also barred from taking pictures by the bouncers who made dramatic scenes at the wedding.

In some of the leaked pictures, the bride was seen looking stunning in a Xhosa-inspired one-sleeve black and white gown. Buhle Samuels’ husband, on the other hand, wore a Chinese-inspired black shirt and trousers.
What Does Buhle Samuels’ Husband Do For a Living?
Buhle Samuels’ husband, Thando Sonqishe, is said to be a businessman. However, when Musa Khawula broke the news of the King of Joburg actress’ wedding, he alleged that her husband was a criminal involved in illicit business. From what was witnessed at Buhle’s wedding, it was evident that she was married to a wealthy man.
She further solidified the claim a couple of weeks after her wedding when she showed off a brand new Porsche Carerra 4s worth over R3 million, which she acquired. Though she didn’t explain in her Instagram story whether the expensive car was a gift or she purchased it herself, it was assumed by some of her fans that her rich husband gifted her the car.
Why Buhle Samuels’ Husband is Alleged to be a Criminal
Buhle Samuels’ husband was allegedly involved in the OR Tambo airport cash heist that happened in 2017. His name appeared as one of the suspects involved in the crime of stealing R20.7 million cash, with no foreign currency involved. At the time of his arrest, it was reported that Thando Sonqishe agreed to be an accomplice to the crime but was never involved in the heist directly.
He allegedly admitted to sourcing the blue police lights for the vehicles used and was paid R1 million for his role. However, during his affidavit application for bail, he denied having anything to do with the crime. Meanwhile, Standard Bank officials linked the cash found in possession of Thando Sonqishe’s girlfriend to the stolen consignment.
When police arrived to arrest him at his luxury home in Blue Valley worth approximately R3 million, he jumped out of the window and hid on his neighbor’s roof. He declared his monthly income as R30,000 but owned a Toyota Hilux, Hyundai 120, and Lamborghini Gallardo at the time of his arrest. While still charged in court, investigations were made about Thando Sonqishe, and it was discovered that he had a number of previous convictions.
He had been arrested on the scene of an armed robbery attack in Sandton in 2010 in a hijacked vehicle. He had also been convicted of reckless and negligent driving. Nevertheless, the robbery charges against him were withdrawn by a junior prosecutor after the contact details of witnesses were altered on official court records.
Later in December 2018, among the eight suspects involved in the OR Tambo heist, one was acquitted, and charges against four of the men were withdrawn. Only three men were sentenced to a total of 90 years in prison, of which Mr. Sonqishe was not inclusive.
