In what could only pass as a classic, Mi Casa’s guitarist J’Something and legendary musician and trumpeter Hugh Masekela paid tribute to the beautiful terrains of South Africa.
The duo collaborated on a track titled Heaven In You which focused on the beauty of South Africa and its people.
Hugh Masekela fondly called Bra Hugh and J’Something found inspiration in the south coast of the country‚ Tsitsikamma‚ for their newest collaboration.
As part of the rules in the Mercedes-Benz #EveryTerrain challenge, the song was created in less than 48 hours. The challenge sees local stars venturing across South Africa and tackling every terrain.
Subsequently, J’Something shared his feelings about the experience as he took to social media and wrote:
I got to spend some time with the legend Hugh Masekela and this journey sparked my creativity. We came up with a song called Heaven In You which is my love letter from Bra Hugh to South Africa.
I really wanted to pay tribute to you (Hugh)‚” said J’Something about the song‚ to which Hugh responded with a nod of approval: “It’s brilliant.”
Developed by Mercedes-Benz, this masterpiece is the fifth in a series of short films under a successful SUV campaign termed Find your Best – #EveryTerrain.
Each episode promises a unique package as an unlikely duo travels to a remote corner of southern Africa. After exploring the terrain, and inspired by their experiences, they are expected to produce a one-of-a-kind piece to “find their best”.
Within a space of 48 hours, each duo would have completed their specific challenge.
Thus, in episode 5, Masekela and J’Something drove along the Garden Route in search of inspiration to complete their task of recording an original song.
Eventually, the inspiration they found and Hugh’s love for his homeland birthed Heaven In You within 48 hours.
