Recap Of Uzalo Teasers For January 2022
Uzalo in January 2022 was indeed action-filled with lots of suspense and surprises. The show began with the shocking news of Mastermind’s return to KwaMashu. It also captured Nkunzi and Ndoni’s ‘connection,’ which breaks Gabisile’s heart, especially after she found the two of them in a compromising position. As the story progressed, Gabisile, on coming home, was shocked to see Nkunzi with another woman.
Babekazi and Mbatha couldn’t relent in setting up plans to rob Nkunzi of his money. Gabisile couldn’t deal with Nkunzi’s acts even though he was also getting closer to Ndoni, so she stole Phillippe’s number from his phone and put a call across. She ended up putting his life in danger as Philippe wanted him dead. Trouble looms as Nkunzi catches up to Mbatha and Babekezi’s evil plan.

Actors That Left Uzalo
Several actors and actresses have left Uzalo since the show began airing. While some left upon the expiration of their contracts, others pursued greener pastures and made appearances in other TV shows. Many South African performers have also joined the TV show, with many of them still featuring on the show since it debuted. The likes of Masoja Msiza and Nompilo Maphumulo have been on the show right from its first season till now.

Leleti Khumalo played the role of Zandile Mdletshe in Uzalo until her exit some couple of years ago. She joined the crime drama show in 2015 after a two-year hiatus from acting to raise her children. Apart from Uzalo, she has also featured in Hotel Rwanda, Cry of Love, Free State, Yesterday and Invictus, Imbewu: The Seed, and Sarafina!, which she is best known for.
The mother of two was born on 30th March 1970 in Durban, South Africa. She is married to businessman Skhutazo Winston Khanyile, with whom she shares twins Ulwenzile and Yamukelani Khanyile. Leleti hasn’t retired from acting. She is currently doing great on Imbewu: The Seed, where she portrays the character Nokubonga Bhengu.
Dawn Thandeka King
Dawn Thandeka King is a household name in the South African entertainment industry. She has been active since 2012 and has worked with prominent actresses and actors in the TV industry. Born on October 1, 1977, King is a talented actress, musician, and motivational speaker from Eshowe, KwaZulu-Natal. She was a former worker in the tourism industry around Durban until she took up an acting role in Mzansi Magic’s telenovela Inkaba.
Thandeka joined Uzalo in 2015 and left in 2021. During her days on the TV show, she was a fan favorite, and her acting skills were second to none. An award-winning actress, Dawn is a recipient of the following prestigious awards and nominations:

Sihle Ndaba as Smangele Maphumulo
Ndaba has been under the spotlight ever since she broke into mainstream success in the TV industry. Some of the projects she has been part of as an actress include iNkaba – Season 1 as Pru, Isibaya – Season 6 & 7 as Cebisile, Room 9 – Season 1 as Qiniso Kaleni, The Herd – Season 1 & 2 as Kayise, and Zaziwa – Season 5.
She left Uzalo recently after joining the show in 2015. The actress, who holds a National Diploma in Musical Theatre from the Tshwane University of Technology, is also a singer and a voice-over artist. Sihle is best known for her roles in Uzalo. Born on June 13, 1989, in Ermelo, Mpumalanga, South Africa, she has also won some awards and recognition in the industry, including;

Ntokozo “TK” Dlamini (as Mastermind, returning)
Born on January 8, 1991, Ntokozo Dlamini is a South African actor who rose to prominence for appearing on Uzalo. He previously left Uzalo but has since returned to the show. A native of Pietermaritzburg, in KwaZulu-Natal province, he portrays Mastermind Maphumulo on Uzalo. He graduated from Varsity College in Westville, Durban, where he studied International Marketing Management. Dlamini is married to actress Jessica Nkosi, and they are blessed with a beautiful daughter.
Shauwn Mkhize (as herself, guest actress)
Shauwn needs no introduction because she is the Queen of Highlights and a famous personality in South Africa. She recently joined Uzalo, and she has not been doing badly. In case you don’t know, she is an all-rounder, a woman of many talents, and a go-getter.
Mkhize is a successful businesswoman, philanthropist, internet personality, and TV personality. She is the owner of the Royal AM football club and the construction company Zikhulise Group. She also has her reality TV show called Mamkhize. She is currently worth R300 million.
Mbali Maphumulo (as Wenzile Nhlapho)
Mbali launched her career in 1997, and since then, she has never looked back or slowed down. She has taken part in the production of several local works, but she is easily recognized for her roles in Uzalo, Is’thunzi, and 4play: Sex Tips for Girls.
Maphumulo portrays the character Wenzile Nhlapo in Uzalo. Apart from acting, she is a talented dancer and model. Born Thandiwe Mbali Maphumulo on November 24, 1980, in Umlazi, South Africa, this beautiful actress has been happily married to fellow actor Dumisani Mbebe since 2016.
