However, Jatavia\u2019s mum only gave birth to three, of which she happens to be the oldest but overall, the Florida native is among her dad\u2019s youngest kids.<\/p>\n<p>While her parents were still married, Jatavia Shakara Johnson (JT) was growing up under their watch, but upon their divorce, she and her brothers first stayed with their mum in Carol City. However, addiction led the mother of three to neglect her children.<\/p>\n<p>With nowhere else to go, she went to live with her dad in Liberty City. Living with her father wasn\u2019t any different from what she experienced in her mum\u2019s house, Jatavia said. There was even a time she had to go stay with one of her aunts.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Jatavia Shakara\u2019s Education<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>While living in Liberty City, the youngster started attending high school, and it was a turbulent period in her life. That was exactly when her friend and partner, Caresha Romeka Brownlee aka Yung Miami, came into her life. Together, the duo got into trouble time without a number.<\/p>\n<p>It was Yung Miami who introduced Jatavia to the other side of the world. At the age of 17, the friends started gracing nightclubs and strip clubs. Eventually, their newly found lifestyle didn\u2019t allow them to complete high school, and they eventually dropped out in the seventh grade.<\/p>\n<p>Before leaving high school, the two friends joined efforts in launching the music group which became popular as City Girls. However, things were rather too difficult for them during their early days, and to put food on the table, Jatavia Shakara Johnson (JT) and her partner had to resort to taking menial jobs at Burger King and Whole Foods.<\/p>\n<p>At this point, the music duo no longer goes to strip clubs, block parties, and nightclubs for pleasure alone. They started performing at these venues to earn some bucks. The song is said to be a diss track for the duo\u2019s ex-boyfriends who refused to give them cash when they requested.<\/p>\n<p>As 2018 was ushered in, Jatavia Shakara Johnson (JT) and Yung uploaded the track\u2019s video; the song later formed part of the compilation album entitled \u201cQuality Control: Control The Streets, Volume 1.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Jatavia Shakara Johnson (JT) and Yung Miami Encountered a Hitch in their Later Career<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>It was shortly after their debut track hit the music stand that Jatavia got into trouble and had to spend years in jail in June 2018. During her imprisonment, Yung Miami did not renege in promoting their song.<\/p>\n<p>According to the other half of the City Girls duo, she would grease the palms of DJs at parties with some bucks just for them to play their debut track. By the time Jatavia regained her freedom in March 2020, the girls were already making waves.<\/p>\n<p>Yung did not only encourage DJs to play their debut song while Jatavia Shakara was behind bars, but she also saw to the release of their first mixtape, Period, in May 2018. Period turned out to be their big break, peaking at #16 on the Heatseekers Albums music chart as well as receiving positive reviews.
