She retained that compassionate spirit all throughout her formative years and helped out her society in any way she could. By 2018, she decided to focus fully on helping others and joined Random Acts. Random Acts is a non-profit organization founded by actor, Misha Collins.<\/p>\n<p>They perform random acts of kindness for people that are in need, including victims of natural disasters. Holli DeWees worked at Random Acts from June 2018 until July 2021. She served as their communications officer and inventory specialist and was based in Missouri. She helped organize their campaigns against hunger and they were able to feed about <a href=\"https:\/\/www.randomacts.org\/kindness-stories\/meet-our-team-holli-dewees\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">200 families<\/a> each day.<\/p>\n<p>Holli DeWees\u2019 exemplary work fetched her commendation and praise and in September 2019, she was made the manager of the Food Bank for Central and Northeast Missouri. It was quite an aggressive one and the doctors immediately placed her on an equally-aggressive treatment path. She underwent months of chemotherapy and surgeries. She also underwent radiation treatment. DeWees shared her battle against cancer with the world through her social media accounts.<\/p>\n<p>She gave updates on how painful her treatment was. She also shared pictures of regaining some of her hair after losing it. Holli DeWees also shared some of the negative feelings that she had during the whole thing. It wasn\u2019t easy but she put on a cheerful and determined spirit. Her health however kept on deteriorating. Cancer spread to other parts of her body, including her brain. She spent several months in the hospital and eventually had to retire to a care home. Through it all, Holli DeWees\u2019 family and friends tried to support her as much as possible.<\/p>\n<p>They set up several fundraising efforts on GoFundMe to help her raise money to take care of her medical bills, as well as provide for her kids. The first GoFundMe effort was set up on the 1st of October 2020, a month after her cancer diagnosis. It had a goal of $25,000 and surpassed it by totaling $27,345 from 960 donors. The major beneficiary was DeWees&#8217; family.<\/p>\n<p>Another <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gofundme.com\/f\/caring-for-holli\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">fundraising<\/a> effort for Hollie DeWees was set up by her family on GoFundMe on the 18th of March 2021. This was about six months into her cancer battle and had a target of $25,000. The aim was also to help out DeWees and her family. This fundraiser raised $24,725 from 514 donors. Asides from the monetary donations, several people left kind wishes for DeWees hoping that she would make it. She was never featured in an episode of the show. She was not even a member of the filming crew. She was however considered an honorary member of the <em>Supernatural<\/em> family as a result of the work she did for Random Acts. As earlier pointed out, Random Acts was founded by <em>Supernatural<\/em> star, Misha Collins, and Holli DeWees was a devoted staff member.<\/p>\n<p>She was also a big fan of the TV series and utilized any opportunity she got to interact with the stars of the show. She, therefore, became a member of the family. As such, when she started battling cancer, they helped out. For instance, Misha Collins donated some money to the fundraising efforts by DeWees\u2019 family.
