Stevens later converted to Islam in 1977 and this impacted every aspect of his life. He officially changed his name to Yufus Islam. He also took a long hiatus from music as he didn\u2019t believe that it was compatible with his new faith.<\/p>\n<p>Many were baffled by Stevens\u2019 decision to take a break from music but he didn\u2019t regret it as it gave him the time and freedom to do several things such as getting married and having children. He also focused on many charitable activities, including his Islamia schools. Stevens made a comeback to music in 2006 and is now enjoying the best of both worlds. He continues to do what he loves best in a manner that suits him. He also revels in the love of his children, including his son that has followed his footsteps into the music industry.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Cat Stevens and His Wife, Fauzia Ali, Have Five Children<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Cat Stevens has been married only once in his life and that is to a lady named Fauzia Mubarak Ali. Their marriage was reportedly an arranged marriage and they wed at the Regent\u2019s Park Mosque in London in 1979. She is also contributing her time and energy to support his charity efforts.<\/p>\n<p>Back in 2013, Maymanah <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/yusufcatstevens\/status\/338678425067851776?lang=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">visited<\/a> Bosnia and Herzegovina on behalf of her father&#8217;s charity organization known as Small Kindness. She does not seem to have any social media accounts as the only mention of her comes on the Yusuf Islam Foundation official Facebook page. Maymanah Islam however found herself in the spotlight back in 2004 when her father was denied entry into the U.S. because his name, Yusuf Islam, was found on a No-Fly list. The U.S. had just suffered the 9\/11 attacks a few years back and was quite jittery about terrorism.<\/p>\n<p>They, therefore, set up several procedures, including a no-fly list. People whose names were on the list were deemed to have terrorist links and were forbidden entry into the U.S. In September 2004, Maymanah and her dad were flying from London to Washington when their flight was diverted to Maine. Her father was subsequently <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/brother-others-defend-cat-stevens\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">detained<\/a> by the FBI. He denied having any links to terrorists but this fell on deaf ears. He nevertheless still had several musical influences and fell in love with it. He bought a guitar and began practicing. He also took to writing songs without his father <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/music\/Cat-power-50-1345087\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">knowing<\/a> what he was doing.<\/p>\n<p>Muhammad adopted the name, Yoriyos Adamos, to conceal his identity and began dropping his songs via Myspace in the early 2000s. In 2006, he dropped his first<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/music\/Cat-power-50-1345087\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u00a0album<\/a> titled, <em>Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee<\/em>, through his own record label named Rarechord. They have dropped about two EPs namely<em> Nine Point Circle<\/em> (2009) and <em>Terra<\/em> (2009). According to him, being in close proximity to his son\u2019s guitar tempted him to pick up the instrument and once he did so, it was like a floodgate was opened. He could play and sing some words that he had been writing and this motivated him to rejig his musical career. Aminah was born in 1988 and grew up with her parents and siblings in London. While growing up, her parents gave her and her siblings the space to explore their characters and individual journeys. They also encouraged them to travel and interact with people. It was indeed a home filled with laughter and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.leica-camera.blog\/2011\/05\/20\/aminah-yusuf-theres-always-something-playing\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">open minds<\/a> and all this inspired Aminah to take an interest in photography at an early age. By the time she was eight, she had inherited a camera from her dad and turned their garage into a little darkroom.<\/p>\n<p>Spurred by her dad and brother\u2019s encouragement, Aminah Yusuf continued teaching herself photography even during her college days. She eventually obtained a degree in footwear design and has since focused on her photography career. Aminah Yusuf now serves as her father and brother\u2019s official photographer. She regularly accompanies her dad on tour and documents every aspect of the whole experience. The resulting pictures not only make it into the archives but have been used by several magazines interviewing her dad such as Rolling Stone etc.<\/p>\n<p>Aminah has revealed that some of her favorite cameras are the Leica M2 and Leica M9. Her favorite photography subjects are people that she has a relationship with and not just famous individuals. The young lady is quite close to her brother, Yoriyos, thanks to the proximity in age. She is also close to her parents and has stated that she is incredibly grateful for them.
