She was birthed and raised in one of the poorest and most unsafe parts of Cuba. Her place of birth makes her nationality Cuban. However, there are slight rumors that one of her parents is American, which gives her a mixed origin.<\/p>\n<p>Mirtha doesn&#8217;t have extensive information relating to her background, as she has managed to live quite a private life. However, born in one of the most notorious towns in Cuba, her environment influenced her life decisions greatly. Mirtha\u2019s parents were low-income earners, so she only managed to graduate from high school. She didn&#8217;t attain a college education.<\/p>\n<p>In an interview, Mirtha revealed that she was a very academically sound student,\u00a0 who was good in mathematics. Unfortunately, the financial condition at home didn&#8217;t allow her to explore that side of her. After her high school education, she worked as a waitress before she crossed paths with George Jung.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Mirtha and George Met Through A Mutual Friend<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Mirtha Jung <a href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/news\/people\/george-jung-released-cocaine-smuggler-played-johnny-depp-blow-freed-prison-9480761.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">met George through a mutual friend<\/a>. The mutual friend was also one of George&#8217;s colleagues in the cocaine business. They met while they were in Columbia in 1976, and there are speculations that Mirtha was also into drug trafficking at the time. At the time of their meeting, Mirtha was 24 while George was 34 years old. They realized they shared similar interests after they met, which made them have an instant connection.<\/p>\n<p>The pair embarked on a romantic journey and began dating. They had only dated for a few months when they made the decision to legalize their union and walk down the aisle as a married couple. They got married in 1977 in a not so big ceremony.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>She Joined George&#8217;s Drug Cartel After Their Marriage<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>After the couple tied the knot, Mirtha joined his drug cartel named <em>The Medellin Cartel.<\/em> She was involved actively in smuggling drugs from Columbia to the United States for several years<em>. <\/em>The trafficking went on for about 7-8 years before she was apprehended. Mirtha played a major role in the growth of George&#8217;s drug cartel. She would transport drugs in suitcases on flights from one country to another. On one of her escapades, the police caught her and eventually charged her for drug trafficking. She was found guilty and subsequently sentenced to prison.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Mirtha and George Jung Were Divorced in 1984<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The couple was so buried in the usage of drugs that they didn&#8217;t have a stable relationship. Their marriage finally began to deteriorate and they had no other option than <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2021\/05\/09\/us\/george-jung-dead.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">to divorce a few years into the marriage<\/a>. This was just one year into her marriage with George, and she was 26 at the time. George was 36 years old at her birth. The daughter was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.the-sun.com\/entertainment\/2834565\/who-is-george-jung-daughter-kristina-sunshine\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">named Kristina Sunshine<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Both her father and mother had criminal records so she had a tough time while growing up. The authorities jailed Mirtha while Kristina was only three years old. Therefore, her grandparents, Ermie and Frederick Jung raised her and they did a good job. However, after her grandfather died, she had to live with her aunt until she was eighteen years old.<\/p>\n<p>At 45 years old, Kristina is presently a businesswoman, writer, and actress. She came into the spotlight after the release of the 2001 movie, <em>Blow, <\/em>which was based on her father\u2019s life. The movie showed the unstable relationship between Gorge, his parents, and his family.<\/p>\n<p>However, after George was released from prison, he reunited with his daughter and they maintained a close relationship till he died. She currently runs a clothing line named Boston George Apparel and Merchandise, which she launched in 2016. The business is located in Santa Rosa, California, but is also active online. The shop promotes and sells books, T-shirts, and other clothing items.<\/p>\n<p>Sunshine is happily married to the love of her life, Romain Kara. The couple has a lovely daughter, Athena Romina Karan. By the time she was out of prison, she had done was free of drugs and began to live a drug-free life. Her fame resurfaced when the movie, <em>Blow <\/em>which mirrored her and her husband&#8217;s life was released. However, she has decided to stay away from the spotlight and tried to live a low-key life. She is known to be a businesswoman, writer, and poet.<\/p>\n<p>Although it is not quite clear how much money she has, the popular drug dealer lives in relative comfort. His bad traits were discovered right from high school when he was charged by the police on &#8216;solicitation of prostitution. He later dropped out from the University of Southern Mississippi, where he was studying advertising. Not long after, Jung began to use and sell Marijuana to break even.<\/p>\n<p>Subsequently, his greed rose and he took trafficking professionally. He began to smuggle Cannabis from one country to the other via airplanes. His business was cut short in 1974 when he was caught and arrested in Chicago for smuggling 660 pounds of Marijuana. After quite a lot of hassle, Jung was sent to the Federal Correctional Institution, Danbury.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>George Jung, Passed Away in 2021<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>At the correctional facility, he met another person who linked him to drug traffickers. When the government released them in 1976, the duo started smuggling large quantities of cocaine into the US and they made millions of dollars. In 1994, the police caught and arrested him again. After pleading guilty on three counts, the government gave him a 50-year sentence.<\/p>\n<p>The authority incarcerated him at Federal Correctional Institution, Fort Dix, New Jersey. Eventually, the government released him on June 2, 2014, after nearly twenty years. Jung later developed liver and kidney failure and was under treatment for a while.
