Rachel Sutherland’s mom is the late actress and activist – Shirley Douglas. The late Douglas studied and honed her craft at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in London before commencing her career in the 1950s. She appeared in TV series such as The Silver Surfer, Flash Gordon, The Path To 9/11, and Wind at my Back. She also appeared in several stage productions, as well as many movies, including Dead Ringers, Shadow Dancing, Woman Wanted, Lolita, and The Shower.

Rachel Sutherland spent the first three years of her life living with her parents in places such as London and Los Angeles. Her parents later separated when she was three years old and she and her twin brother spent a couple of months with their dad. Their mom however returned for them and took them to Canada in the early 70s. Rachel Sutherland thus largely grew up with her mom in the Canadian city of Toronto.

Her father made an effort to be present in her life but his busy schedule as an actor, as well as the fact that they resided in different countries, complicated matters. Before getting to this impressive role, Rachel Sutherland commenced her career by working as a casting assistant on the TV series, Beyond Reality, in 1991. From there onward, she worked in the costume, camera, and art departments of the 1997 film, Truth or Consequences, N.M. All these helped her to gain experience which enabled her to become a post-production supervisor.

Rachel Sutherland has served as a post-production supervisor on several Canadian and Hollywood TV series such as The Zack Files, Radio Free Roscoe, Darcy’s Wild Life, Wild Roses, The Kennedys, Lost Girl, Nurses, and Pretty Hard Cases. She has also fulfilled a similar role in movies such as You Might As Well Live, Real Time, Away From Her, etc. One of the movies that Rachel Sutherland is famous for is the 2009 romantic drama, Cairo Time.

Cairo Time revolves around a lady who embarks on a brief and passionate affair with her husband’s friend. The movie featured the likes of Patricia Clarkson and Alexander Siddig and received good reviews from critics. It also won some accolades, including the best Canadian film at the 2009 Toronto International Film Festival.

Rachel Sutherland Has a Total of Five Siblings, Including Four Half Brothers

Rachel Sutherland has a total of five siblings. The closest is obviously her twin brother, Keifer. Another is her older half-brother named Thomas Emil Sicks. Thomas is her maternal half-brother from her mother’s first marriage to Canadian brewery hair, Timothy Emil. Rachel Sutherland also has three younger half brothers from her father’s third marriage to actress, Francine Racette. They are Rossif, Angus, and Roeg Sutherland. Rachel has been pictured with her half-brothers on a few occasions which indicates that she has some relations with them. She however maintains a close relationship with her twin brother, Keifer Sutherland.
