Asaad Amin Became Muhammad Ali’s Son By Adoption

Asaad Amin was born in Michigan, on January 17, 1995. He came into the Ali family not by birth, but through adoption. The late Mohammad and his wife, Yolanda, met little Asaad through his wife’s sister who had been babysitting him at the time.

In what could be described as “love at first sight”, the famous couple was captivated by the baby boy who was only 5 months old at the time and decided to take him back and raise him as their own, rescuing him from foster care. He was raised on his father’s large farm in Louisville and attended a nearby high school.

Although his father was a boxing legend, and because people may have expected Asaad to follow suit, he never stepped into the boxing ring – not as a competitor, at least. Asaad Amin discovered quite early that he preferred playing ball games. First, he played baseball, then basketball, and then football, all for his high school team.

In 1992, he successfully led his team to the Southwestern Michigan Athletic Conference West Division Championship, because of his prowess as a redshirt catcher. Asaad made a record of 50 wins while he was with the team.

After high school, he went for his college education at the University of Louisville, Kentucky, in 2009. There he pursued an amateur baseball career, joining the university’s baseball team, the Cardinals. His stay with them was short, however, as he had to temporarily leave college to go work with the Chicago White Sox in 2011. Amin did complete his Bachelor’s program from the College of Arts and Sciences, but this came much later – after he had already become a major league baseball player.

Asaad Amin Was a Baseball Coach in His Hometown

Asaad Amin’s impressive sports background had once helped him land a spot on the Cardinals baseball team, so, he had no trouble taking off his professional career. He worked as an assistant baseball coach for a local Kentucky college team, and also served as the recruiting coordinator for the Heavenly Attendants.

Currently, Asaad Amin works as the multimedia content producer for the University of Louisville in the Athletics department.

Asaad and His Siblings Were Devastated When His Boxer Father Passed On

Being an adopted son, there was a lot of speculation over the nature of the relationship between the late boxer Muhammad Ali and his youngest child. Asaad is the second son of Ali and the overall youngest child.

He has eight siblings, all from his adoptive father’s side, born to him (Ali) by different women, some of whom were married to the former heavyweight champion. In no particular order they are, Maryum Ali, Laila Ali, Khaliah Ali, Rasheda Ali, Miya Ali, Hana Ali, Muhammad Ali Jr., and Jamillah Ali. Of all his eight siblings, he only has one brother: Muhammad Ali Jr.

Being the son of Ali’s old age, Asaad and his father were pretty close and had a good relationship with each other. This is an interesting fact when you realize that not all of Ali’s kids were on good terms with him, especially his first son. Asaad has said severally that he was more proud of his father’s physical achievements than he respected his father’s sporting ones.

When the boxer passed away in June 2016 at the age of 74, Asaad Amin posted a couple of emotional tributes to his late father on Instagram. As Muhammad Ali’s last child, Asaad inherited a good portion of his father’s 108-million-dollar estate, to the tune of $6 million.

Asaad Amin is Married to His College Sweetheart, Rachel McNulty

Love found Asaad Amin quite early when he was a baseball player in college. He met teacher and cheerleading coach, Rachel McNulty way back in the early 2010s when both of them were college students.

Asaad has specifically said he and Rachel met in a baseball stadium in Louisville. They stuck together throughout college, and through the time when Asaad dropped out to play major league baseball.

Five years after Rachel’s graduation, the lovebirds got married in the winter of 2018 on the 28th of December, at a four-star hotel in Kentucky. The handsome groom donned a red velvet suit matched with a black bow tie and white shirt while his wife-to-be Rachel, was decked in a stunning white bridal gown.

Asaad reportedly had a groom train of 9 men, all dressed in black tuxedos. Not long after officializing their union, the couple welcomed their baby girl, Zoey Ali on September 5, 2020.

Asaad and Rachel currently live in Louisville, Kentucky. He has spoken about his love for Kentucky, especially the city of Louisville, stating that apart from the fact that he grew up in the city and was very familiar with the place, it was also Muhammad Ali’s final resting place, and so it felt like home much more than any other place.
