Who are Maurizio Gucci’s Daughters and Where are They Today?

Italian businessman and one-time head of the famous Gucci fashion house, Maurizio Gucci, had two daughters with his ex-wife Patrizia Reggiani. They are Alessandra and Allegra Gucci, and they reside in Switzerland with their partners and children.

Born September 26, 1948, Maurizio, the grandson of Guccio Gucci, the founder of the Italian high-end luxury fashion establishment, was murdered on March 27, 1995, by an assassin hired by his ex-wife. The marriage between the former couple turned sour towards the end and was filled with resentment and threats.

However, for all the ills that plagued his marriage to Reggiani, the late Italian businessman can take solace in the legacy of the two daughters he left behind. Here’s what we know about Maurizio Gucci’s daughters Alessandra and Allegra.

Maurizio Gucci Had His Two Daughters With His Ex-Wife

In his youth, and even well into his mid-40s to 50s, Maurizio Gucci was a very handsome man. Add that to the fact that he was a relatively wealthy man, it was almost inevitable that he attracted the attention of several women. Some of these women included Sheree McLaughlin Loud, the American model he dated for six years from 1984 to 1990 while he was separated from Reggiani, as well as Paola Franchi, a childhood friend who even left her husband to be with the late Italian businessman.

However, Maurizio Gucci was only married once, and that marriage began with a wedding ceremony that took place in 1972 to Patrizia Reggiani. According to one of his daughters, Maurizio was determined not to start another family with any other woman as he considered the two daughters he had with his first wife to be the only family he needed.

Maurizio Gucci's Daughters

Before separating from his first wife, the former Gucci boss welcomed two daughters with Patrizia, and along with several people who knew about the marriage and the troubles it faced, Maurizio believed that his daughters were the only good thing that came of his marriage to their mother. Alessandra was born in 1977, and four years later, in 1981, the former couple welcomed their second daughter, Allegra.

The former couple separated in 1985 before eventually getting divorced in 1994. The terms of the divorce compelled the late businessman to pay his ex-wife an annual alimony of $1.47 million from his estate, a sum she is still entitled to despite her subsequent despicable act.

As previously mentioned, the tail end of Maurizio’s marriage to the mother of his children was filled with bitter resentment and veiled threats from Patrizia, who was apparently not satisfied with the terms of her divorce settlement.

This resentment boiled over, and along with three others who also had an axe to grind with the late businessman, she engaged the services of a hitman named Benedetto Ceraulo to carry out the assassination of her husband.

Ceraulo carried out his assignment by shooting Maurizio Gucci on March 27, 1995. Gucci had arrived for work on that Monday morning and had been hit before he made it up the steps of his office complex. He died shortly after, and just over three years later, his ex-wife Patrizia Reggiani was convicted of the murder and was sentenced to 29 years in prison.

The sentence was reduced to 26 years on appeal, but she ended up serving 18 years and was released in October 2016. Maurizio’s children were very much at the center of all the aforementioned events, and these events undoubtedly affected their lives in more ways than one.

Ridley Scott’s 2021 movie House of Gucci reverted the spotlight to the surviving members of Maurizio Gucci’s family. Our focus is especially on his daughters and what their lives have been like right from the day they were born to date.

Alessandra Gucci is Maurizio Gucci’s First Daughter

  • Date of birth: June 28, 1977
  • Age: 46 years old
  • Occupation: Entrepreneur, Designer

Alessandra Gucci was born on June 28, 1977. Her birth sign is Cancer, and she was born in the beautiful city of Milan, Italy. She is currently 46 years old.

Her birth status invariably means that she is an Italian citizen duly endued with all the rights, privileges, and responsibilities due to one. Alessandra Gucci is her father’s first daughter, with his wife Patrizia Reggiani. Her parents were technically married for 22 years, but they lived separately for around 10 of those 22 years.

As confirmed by several sources, Alessandra Gucci was around nine years old when her father, Maurizio, told her mother that she was going on a business trip to Florence in 1985. Just a day later, a friend of her father’s came with a message from her father for her mother to let her know that their marriage was over.

At this point, they had been married for 12 years, and things looked fine from the outside. On the inside, though, Alessandra’s mother had a cloud of disapproval hanging over her head. That cloud was cast by the now Swiss-based entrepreneur’s paternal grandfather Rodolfo Gucci who considered his son Maurizio’s wife to be a social climber who was attracted to the family’s money.

It would appear that his instincts about her were right, and Alessandra’s father would see it too hence his decision to end things, first after 12 years and officially after 22 years.

Alessandra Gucci was Raised By Her Mother

Alessandra Gucci was raised single-handedly by her mother Patrizia Reggiani. Born Patrizia Martinelli on December 2, 1948, in Vignola, Italy. She reportedly never knew who her biological father was and was only 12 years old when her mother, Silvana, married a well-to-do entrepreneur named Ferdinando Reggiani. He later adopted Patrizia and gave her his last name.

Not much was known about Patrizia until she met Maurizio Gucci. Their first encounter was reportedly at a party in 1970. They began dating soon after and eventually tied the knot on October 28, 1972, despite her father-in-law’s misgivings about her. She and her now-deceased ex-husband moved to New York City after their wedding and lived in a penthouse gifted to them by Alessandra’s paternal grandfather, Rodolfo.

They lived in the US for almost a decade, with Patrizia coming into her own as a socialite who was a regular at virtually all the trendy social parties and fashion events where she established a friendship with quite a few notable names like Jackie Kennedy Onassis.

She eventually returned to Milan, Italy, where she had both her daughters with Maurizio. The wheels of her marriage, which had been long threatening to pull off, eventually did so in 1982 when Maurizio abandoned her and the daughters they had together.

Alessandra Gucci thus had to grow up with her mother and younger sister, although they did so with the financial support of an absentee dad.

Alessandra Gucci’s Mother Murdered Her Father

Four years before her parents’ divorce was finalized in 1994, Alessandra’s father started dating Paola Franchi, a childhood friend of his who had been present at his wedding to the businesswoman’s mother. Alessandra’s mom did not take the issue kindly, but her reactions were restrained by the fact that she was still legally married to Maurizio.

Those restraints were dissolved by the paranoia that followed after the divorce was finalized. Part of the divorce settlement saw Alessandra’s mother awarded an annual alimony of $1.47 million, and she feared that that settlement would be cut in half if her ex-husband married Franchi.

To ensure that it was a scenario she wouldn’t have to deal with, Patrizia, Alessandra Gucci’s mom, engaged the services of a debt-ridden pizzeria owner Benedetto Ceraulo to take out her daughters’ father. She did this through her close friend Guiseppina “Pina” Auriemma, a high society psychic.

She was eventually arrested in 1997, and during the trial, she earned the moniker “The Black Widow” for her actions which were allegedly motivated by a combination of greed, resentment, money, and jealousy geared towards seizing control of the Gucci estate as well as stopping the alleged impending marriage to Paola Franchi.

Up to that point, and even beyond, Alessandra Gucci had always had a good relationship with her mother and even visited her in prison after she had been convicted. That relationship between mother and daughter has since fizzled out, and the socialite even claims that she had been cut off financially by Alessandra and her sister.

Alessandra Gucci is an Entrepreneur and a Fashion Designer

Details of Alessandra Gucci’s early formal education background have yet to be unveiled, but we have it on good authority that she has a Business Administration degree from Stanford Graduate School of Business. Shortly after her father died, the entrepreneur moved to Germany, where she launched AG, a premium designer handbag as limited as the Gucci brand itself.

Some of her products are named after her late father, Maurizio, and grandfather, Rodolfo. It’s not known how involved she is in the family business, but several sources have confirmed that she and her sister inherited her late father’s estate, including several high-value properties worth over $400 million.

Alessandra Gucci Lives in Switzerland With Her Husband and Son

Alessandra Gucci is a happily married woman. So far, the only information available on the identity of her husband is the fact that his name is Federico. Other than that, it is apparent that he lives his life away from the view of the public, and that has made it quite challenging to determine other aspects of his identity, including how old he is, where he was born, and what he does for a living.

We have even less information regarding when, how, or where Alessandra Gucci met her husband, as well as how long they dated before getting married. The details of their time as a married couple, including how long they have been married, have yet to be revealed to the public.

Alessandra Gucci and her husband have one child together, a son whose identity has also been kept away from the public. Alessandra Gucci currently lives with her husband and son in Switzerland, and other than her business engagements, the fashion designer lives her life away from the spotlight that comes with being associated with the Gucci brand, a stance she took following the murder of her father, and the events that led to said murder.

Allegra Gucci is Maurizio Gucci’s Youngest Daughter

  • Date of birth: January 27, 1981
  • Age: 43 years old
  • Occupation: Lawyer, Sailor, Author

Allegra Gucci was born on January 27, 1981, in Milan, Italy. She is the youngest of Maurizio Gucci’s two daughters. The 43-year-old celebrity grew up in her home country of Italy, initially with both parents, but she was only four years old when her father separated from her mother in 1985.

Prior to the separation, her parents, Maurizio Gucci and Patrizia Reggiani, had been married for 12 years. Her father later moved on with Paola Franchi, but her mother never did and initially focused all her energies on raising Allegra and her older sister Alessandra.

Not much is known about Allegra’s formative years nor aspects of formal education. Several sources confirm, however, that she enrolled in Law School during the trial of her mother for the murder of her father (more on that later).

Allegra Gucci Had a Very Good Relationship With Her Mother

When Allegra Gucci’s late father left her and her older sister in the care of their mother, Patrizia Reggiani, Allegra and her sister were forced to make do with the position of spending time with their parents at different locations. Despite the new living arrangements, the primary care of the two sisters was nonetheless still the responsibility of their mother, who ultimately spent more time with the sisters.

Even when her parents eventually called time for their marriage, the living arrangement barely changed as Allegra, and her older sister continued to live with their mother. While they still loved and cared for their father unconditionally, it is no surprise that Allegra and her sister became more fond of their mother as the years went by.

Patrizia Reggiani never remarried, and nothing about her profile suggests that she had any other romantic relationship with any other man after the father of her children. A couple of factors may have contributed to her decision to go down that route, but one could argue that deciding to devote her time to her young daughters was a deciding factor.

The bond between Allegra Gucci, her older sister, and their mother was so strong to the point that the sisters stood up for her when she was arrested and charged with the assassination and murder of her then-ex-husband, Maurizio Gucci.

Other than the former Mrs. Maurizio Gucci and her lawyers, Allegra and her older sister were the only two people who maintained the position that she was innocent throughout her trial. The 43-year-old master sailor and her sister pointed to the fact that the surgery Reggiani had undergone to remove a brain tumor had changed her personality but didn’t make her responsible for their father’s death.

As mentioned earlier, Allegra Gucci enrolled in the Milan law school to learn more about the best ways to stop her mother from going down for the murder of her father. Even after she was convicted of the crime and sentenced to serve 29 years in prison, reduced to 26 years on appeal, Allegra and her sister continued to visit their mother in prison.

Allegra Gucci No Longer Speaks To Her Mother

While Allegra was studying all about her mother’s case and doing her best to establish her innocence once and for all, she was regularly drawn to the fact that her mother may not be as innocent as the advocate, her sister, and her lawyers had believed.

She was devastated when her suspicions were confirmed by the woman she had spent years defending. In an interview, Reggiani declared that she was not innocent but that she was not guilty either. Allegra was nonplused when she heard the declarations and promptly sought clarification by putting a call across to her mother in prison.

After a lengthy conversation that involved a lot of back and forth from Patrizia, she finally admitted her part in the assassination of Allegra’s father. In her defense, she did what she did for her daughters, to protect their inheritance from any children her father may have with his then-girlfriend, Paola Franchi.

It all felt like a dream for Allegra Gucci, who was in disbelief about her mother’s involvement in the death of her father. That admission invariably ended further visits to the prison for Allegra and her older sister, who was determined to cut her off from their lives forever.

That stalemate persisted after Reggiani, who spent 18 of the 26 years she was supposed to spend in prison, was released in October 2016. Allegra and her sister had inherited their father’s $400 million estate and had every intention of making sure that their mother did not get a dime of it.

Reggiani even told reporters that she and her daughters were in a bad place and they had cut her off financially despite the terms of her divorce settlement which specified that she would receive an annual alimony of $1.47 million from her late ex-husband’s estate.

A court case was inevitable, and Reggiani took her daughters to court to reverse their stance on freezing her out, at least financially. The fact that a judge ruled in Patrizia Reggiani’s favor further aggravated Allegra Gucci and her sister and ensures that the Milan Law School graduate and her mother do not have any relationship to date.

Allegra Gucci is a Lawyer and an Author

Allegra Gucci’s law degree from the Milan Law School made it possible for her to get a law license. However, other than her brief involvement in her mother’s case as a student, it remains to be seen whether she has any experience as a lawyer despite her fancy law degree.

In addition to her legitimate claims as a lawyer, Allegra Gucci is also an author. Following the release of the Ridley Scott film House of Gucci, Allegra also released a book titled Fine Dei Giochi (translated to “Game Over” in English). In the book, Allegra Gucci addressed the historical inaccuracies that were portrayed throughout the movie.

Prior to the release of the book, the author and her sister, Alessandra Gucci, had refused to speak to the press about what had really happened during one of the darkest periods in the family’s history. Allegra Gucci’s book refutes the movie’s portrayal of Maurizio Gucci as a weak individual as well as an image of her mother as a party crasher.

She also talked about how they were abandoned by friends during the trial as well as her and her sister’s strained relationship with their maternal grandmother, Silvana Barbieri, who Allegra believed was more interested in getting as much financial gain out of the situation than she was in taking care of the young women who had been placed under her care.

Allegra reveals in the book that the aforementioned grandmother had hidden part of the money meant for them and transferred it to her personal account. The book also uncovered the fact that she put one of the family mansions in her own name while Allegra and her sister kept paying for it. The author claimed they blindly trusted Barbieri while she persisted in manipulating others with feelings of guilt and her newly acquired economic power.

Allegra Gucci also revealed her frustration at the antics deployed by her father’s girlfriend, Paola Franchi, who had tried to insert herself into the sisters’ lives just so she could get her hands on what she felt just rewarded for the time she had spent with the late Maurizio Gucci, a ploy that failed miserably as Allegra explained her situation to a judge that made sure that Franchi’s designs on financial settlement were an unsuccessful one.

Alegra Gucci is Also an Expert Sailor

Following the birth of Allegra Gucci, her father, Maurizio, bought the Creole, considered to be the largest wooden sailing yacht in the world, to celebrate that birth. The late one-time Gucci boss was a boat lover, and it appears that Allegra inherited his love for water body vessels.

Upon her father’s death, the mother of two inherited the vessel that holds such fond childhood memories for her. She had become interested in sailing from a very young age, an avid interest that her late father took note of, and he proceeded to help her become better at it.

With the understanding that the Creole was too large a vessel for Allegra to train with at the time, he started her off with dinghies when she was only 10 years old. As she grew older and got better at sailing, he went ahead to purchase a smaller classic boat named “Avel” for her.

The Creole and Avel have been involved in and won several sailing contests with Allegra Gucci and her crew. She temporarily took a step back from the sport when she became pregnant but has since returned to it, though not as active as he once was because of the demands that have been placed on her by her family.

Any interest Allegra and her sister may have had in the family business were scuppered by the fact that her father lost his shares in the Gucci business. Nonetheless, the late businessman left a financial legacy of around $400 million as well as other valuable properties exclusively to Allegra and her sister, Alessandra, both of whom coincidentally reside with their husbands and children in St. Moritz, Switzerland.

Allegra Gucci Is Happily Married

Speaking of husbands, and much like her older sister, Allegra Gucci is also happily married. Not much is known about her husband or about the two sons she currently has with him. As previously stated, they currently make their home in St. Moritz, Switzerland.

Maurizio Gucci’s daughters were once in the news for tax evasion, but they were acquitted of any wrongdoing. Since then, they have relatively lived away from the view of the media and the public.
