He Became a Viral Sensation After Going on a Joyride in His Grandma’s Car at the Age of Seven
Latarian Milton is most famous for taking his grandmother’s car on a joyride on the 27th of April 2008. At that time, he was only seven years old and was living with his mom and his grandmom. On that day, he asked his mom to allow him to watch animations with his friend on TV but his mom refused. This made him so angry and he left the house. On his way out, he saw his grandmom’s car – a Dodge Durango and decided to drive it.
Latarian Milton was able to start the vehicle and put it into gear. His friend, another seven-year-old boy, joined him in the car and he drove off. Latarian Milton drove his grandma’s car for several miles during which he passed through Lake Park and Palm Beach Gardens. Along the way, he ran over two mailboxes. He also hit a total of four vehicles, including two parked cars and two moving cars.
While Milton was driving, he attracted the attention of other motorists, one of whom noticed that he looked too small to be licensed to drive. The individual put a call across to the police and they started looking for Milton. They eventually caught up with him after he hit the curb and got stuck in a field around Investment Lane and Consumer Drive.
The Incident Attracted Much Media Coverage in Riviera Beach Area
When police officers caught up with Latarian Milton, they were surprised to discover that it was a seven-year-old behind the wheel of an SUV. They queried him as to why he did such a thing and he explained that it was because his mom made him mad. The whole thing was so funny and the incident was carried by several local media outlets in the Riviera Beach Area.
They showed footage of Milton on the road. They also interviewed him and he restated the reasons behind his action. The little boy further dropped his iconic quote that he just wanted to do “hoodrat stuff” with his friend. The term “hoodrat stuff” resonated with many people and further made Milton popular. Clips of his joyride went viral on YouTube but he remained unperturbed.
His grandma, on the other hand, was shocked by what happened and revealed that she would have beaten Milton if the act wouldn’t land her in jail. She also shared her displeasure that she had to pay to repair her car and potentially pay for the repair of the other cars that Milton damaged.
Two Weeks After the Joyride, Latarian Milton Made the News Again for Attacking His Grandmom
The dust had barely settled on Latarian Milton’s joyride incident when he made the news again two weeks later on the 12th of May 2008. This was for attacking his grandma at a mall.
As the story goes, he and his grandma were shopping at a Walmart store when he demanded a chicken wing. She turned him down and he decided to take one all the same. She reprimanded him for that act and he started attacking her.
The incident propelled Latarian Milton into the news headlines again. He was also picked up by the authorities for a mental evaluation before he was returned to his grandmother. The young boy also received an invitation to appear on the Judge Judy Show in June 2008.
That appearance never happened though as Judge Judy stumbled upon a shady deal involving her staff who tried to convince Milton’s grandma to sue her own daughter for the damage the young boy made to her car.
Latarian Milton was also Arrested for Carjacking at the Age of 16
After the mall incident, Latarian Milton stayed out of the spotlight for the next few years and continued living his normal life. He made friends and set up a social media presence. He also attended school like any other kid, graduating from the John F. Kennedy Middle School in 2015. His graduation attracted the media and he revealed that his ambition was to go to high school and college. He also revealed that he wished to play football or go into the Navy and explore engineering and technology.

Latarian Milton has diligently pursued his ambitions but he did derail later and was arrested for armed carjacking in June 2017. According to police records, Milton and his three male friends dispossessed a Lyft driver of his vehicle and stole his jacket, iPhone, and wallet. Milton was the getaway driver and he and his friends were later charged with armed carjacking, burglary, and committing a felony while possessing a firearm.
Latarian Milton was 16 at the time but was charged as an adult. He was able to get some leniency though as he was sentenced to community supervision for four years on the 29th of August 2018. He was able to escape jail term as community supervision is equivalent to parole or probation.
Is Latarian Milton Dead?
Latarian Milton is not dead but is very much alive. The young man escaped prison time after his carjacking charge and so was able to complete his high school diploma at the Palm Beach Gardens Community High School. He thereafter studied for a college degree at Oregon State University.
