His father is the late Herbert Joseph Stapleton Jr., while his mother is Carol Mace Stapleton.
His father was a coal mining engineer, while his mom worked for a local health department.

Stapleton has a younger sister named Melanie, who lives in Lexington, Kentucky. He also has an elder brother named Herbert Joseph Stapleton III, who lives in Bridgeport, West Virginia. Stapleton’s dad wasn’t the only coal miner in the family, as his granddad was also a coal miner. This inspired him to pursue engineering in college, but he later dumped it for music. Stapleton’s mother still lives in Staffordsville, but his dad passed away in 2013 at the age of 67. He also lived in Staffordsville until his demise.

As a songwriter, Chris Stapleton started his music career on a humble note in the early 2000s. His talent shone through, and he soon penned hits for well-known artists such as Josh Turner, Kenny Chesney, and Luke Bryan.

He has Organized Several Charity Concerts to Benefit the State

Chris Stapleton is now a wealthy and famous musician, but he has not forgotten his roots. Rather, he continues to give back to his beloved state. In the summer of 2022, catastrophic flooding in east Kentucky left 39 people dead and displaced thousands. Stapleton joined hands with the likes of Dwight Yoakam to organize a benefit concert for victims, their families, and first responders in October 2022. The concert was tagged Kentucky Rising and it raised a good sum of money.

Also, in April 2022, Stapleton joined hands with the likes of Willie Nelson, Sheryl Crow, and Madeline Edwards to organize a Concert for Kentucky. It spanned several nights, and at the end of it, they raised a million dollars for charities such as the American Red Cross. Stapleton described it as a great honor to be able to play for thousands of people and give back the profits to a loyal and supportive community.
