The 2021 docu-series followed Garrett McNamara’s journey to record-breaking exploits in Portugal in 2011 and 2013, and Nicole featured prominently in it. She and her husband’s efforts paid off as the documentary was well received by fans.

Nicole McNamara and Garrett McNamara share a mutual passion for the environment and a holistic lifestyle, and they have set up two philanthropic foundations to pursue the same. The first is the McNamara Foundation. The McNamara Foundation uses the transformational power of surf therapy to assist at-risk youths and connect them to nature.
They do this through day camps, community programs, and alternative schooling. Nicole McNamara has also set up her individual non-profit known as Vital Living. Vital Living seeks to promote holistic living and wellness by empowering individuals and educating practitioners in that regard.
