James ‘Murr’ Murray of Impractical Jokers is definitely not gay. As a matter of fact, the celebrity comedian, who is as straight as they come, has been married two times in his life and both times were to women.
Nevertheless, Murray has mostly been the one fueling rumors about his sexuality. In a 2016 episode of the Daytime Talk Show with Sally Jessy, Murray’s co-host and friend, Salvatore ‘Sal’ Vulcano came out with a revelation that he was gay in what turned out to be yet another one of their many pranks on each other. A few moments after this revelation, James Murray also admitted that he was gay to the surprise of almost everyone present on the show.
Is James Murray Gay?
As earlier mentioned, James Murray of Impractical Jokers is not gay and despite his live TV admission, Murray has proved in more ways than one that he is not gay. The events that led to a lot of fans and viewers thinking he was gay concerned his friend and colleague’s admission.
When asked how he felt about being gay, Sal Vulcano, the said colleague, and friend retracted his admission by saying that he was happy that his admission, though false had prompted his friend, Murray to come out of the closet.
The group of four which includes high school friends Salvatore ‘Sal’ Vulcano, Joseph ‘Joe’ Gatto, Brian ‘Q’ Quinn, and James ‘Murr’ Murray, formed a primarily comedian group called The Tenderloins, and although Gatto has since departed to take care of private matters, the group who are the stars of the show called Impractical Jokers, continue to thrill fans and followers with their comedy and Jokes on live TV.
They have been known to prank each other, particularly James and Sal who have exchanged pranks that included sky diving incidents and seemingly fake marriages. Just like Sal, Murray’s coming out turned out to be false as he eventually exchanged marital vows with his now-wife Melyssa Davies a few years later.
Regardless of the fact that James Mur Murray and his group of friends have a renowned history of playing pranks on themselves and unsuspecting members of the public, the public admission is still something that has hung over and still hangs over his head and personality and fans are still unsure of what to believe with regards to Murray’s sexuality.
Is James Murray Married?
James ‘Murr’ Murray appears to be happily married. The statement of fact is backed up by his marriage to Melyssa Davies on September 25, 2020, at Lake House Inn in Pennsylvania. Before his current marriage to Davies, Murray had tied the knot with his co-star Sal’s sister, Jenna Vulcano.
The exact date of the ceremony is not public knowledge except for the fact that it happened in 2014, two years before Murray jokingly declared that he was gay on a live television talk show. It was a marriage that had all the pumps and shenanigans like most celebrity marriages with family and friends in attendance.
Fast forward to 24 hours later and the public became aware of the fact that James and Jenna had mutually put an end to a marriage that lasted for probably less than a day. On closer scrutiny of the turn of events at the time, it was revealed that the marriage had been an Impractical Jokers production designed by James and in cahoots with Vulcano’s sister Jenna, as a prank on his friend, Sal, to get back at him for a skydiving punishment that happened in the 3rd season of the show.
Fortunately for everyone involved, the supposed couple didn’t make a big deal of breaking up their legal but ultimately sham marriage and also achieved the purpose for which they decided to get married in the first place.
James Murray Met His Wife Melyssa Davies In 2018
In addition to being a comedian, James ‘Murr’ Murray is also an author who has written several books, including Don’t Move and Awakened. And it was at the press event of the latter that he met his wife, Melyssa Davies. Murray expressed his gratitude to God for writing the book and for the subsequent press event that was held in June 2018 as it was responsible for bringing him and his wife together.
The couple became instantly attracted to each other and their relationship hit the ground running almost from the time they laid eyes on each other. As the events in their relationship unfolded, there was no doubt in the couple’s minds that they wanted to take things to the next level by spending the rest of their lives with each other.
Melyssa’s conviction was evident in the statement she made to a publication about how she could be herself around the Impractical Jokers’ star.
To seal the deal, James Murray planned an elaborate, yet romantic proposal in 2019. The couple had just purchased a home in New Jersey and Murray lured his bride-to-be to the house under the guise of signing the documents that would officially make them homeowners.
On arrival, Melyssa, who has a nursing degree, found out that there were no documents to sign and instead discovered to her pleasant surprise that Murray had set up a picnic complete with champagne and a scrabble board. More surprises awaited the unsuspecting Melyssa when James got down on one knee to propose with a Tiffany and Co. ring in front of more than 20,000 fans whom James had invited via live streaming and to the eternal delight of Murray, she said yes.
The couple settled down to plan for their wedding but were inadvertently faced with the Coronavirus pandemic that ravaged the world, including the United States. In order to find a suitable time that would benefit them and their invited guests, Murray and his wife initially chose four different venues, including the simple choice of having a backyard wedding in their new home.
Fortune smiled on them when they got an opening at the Lake House Inn, Pennsylvania, and proceeded to officially tie the knot on September 25, 2020, as earlier mentioned. James has shared how happy he is in his marriage, even stating publicly that he didn’t imagine he would ever get married until he met his wife, Melyssa. His statements promptly indicate that they enjoy each other’s company and can talk about anything with each other.
James Murray and his wife, Melyssa Davies hope to eventually have kids but appear to be in no hurry to have them. The comedian expressly stated that they have no plans to welcome any children to their nearly 2-year-old marriage.
