After pledging to go to Baylor University on a basketball scholarship, Brittney Griner made it clear to Kim Mulkey, her head coach at the time, that she was not prepared to hide her sexual identity, to which the coach replied that she could care less if Brittney was gay and that the only thing she cared about was that she brought her A-game anytime she stepped on the court.

She was right, as the coach later told her to keep her sexual preference to herself for fear that other parents would stop their children from committing to the school if they found out that the school was lenient towards LGBTQ students.
