University of Limpopo Address
The University of Limpopo Initially had two campuses; the Turfloop campus and the Medunsa campus. The former is erected on a site chosen by Dr. Hendrick Verwoerd, erstwhile Prime Minister in Turfloops, to the east of Polokwane in Limpopo province. It was at first launched as a tertiary college, but after a decade, it attained full university status.
The Turfloop campus is the manifestation of the university’s fundamental goal of becoming the leading university that addresses the needs of the African rural communities. The Medunsa campus, on the other hand, was incorporated into the University of Limpopo (UL) as a full medical faculty.
However, it got separated from UL in 2015. Medunsa is now part of a new university called Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University (SMU). Despite the Turfloop campus being situated in the middle of a densely populated old homeland area, it boasts several centres of excellence. This includes the Materials Modelling Centre.
