Tropika Island Of Treasure Finale Plagued By ‘Rigged’ Speculation

The 7th season finale of Tropika Island of Treasure has been wrapped up, but the show’s broadcast on Monday night on SABC3 is sparking serious controversy.

Following the outcome of the competition that saw team Anga Makubalo (NaakMusiQ) and Bonginkosi Ndima (Bongs) clinch the prize, social media went crazy with the speculation that the final result was “rigged”.

Anga and Bongs won over team Siv Ngesi and Khabonina Shabangu in the finale. Nevertheless, it has been alleged severally that the finale didn’t deliver the pay-off on the narrative that Team Siv was the strongest and best team that was set up in the preceding 11 episodes before the grand finale.

Siv Ngesi and Khabonina Shabangu had what’s required to be the winning team. The duo consistently showed the better team spirit, determination and bigger muscle and strategising brain power in the preceding 11 episodes. However, the 12th season on Monday night took an unexpected turn.

Subsequently, team Siv struggled to do the task on ground while looking resigned to fate, unsure and uncertain, On the other hand, Team Anga cruised to a victory which many say is unmerited. This is because team Anga never won a single challenge during the duration of the season, yet emerged as the winner in the final challenge.

As a result, fans took to social media to condemn the show for being partial. They insisted that Siv Ngesi and Khabonina Shabangu didn’t get what they deserved.

“Hmmmm something feels off. Rigged perhaps,” wrote a viewer.

Meanwhile, Tropika brand manager Miantha Padayachee said the speculation holds no water.

“There are hundreds of thousands of viewers all of which are entitled to their own opinions. We have built a loyal and passionate following during the 7th season. Favourite teams were selected by viewers and that was incredible to watch on social media every week. We are proud of season 7 and are looking forward to planning season 8,” Padayachee said.
