Idols SA runner-up Thami Shobede may have missed the title and the whole package attached to it, but he’s not giving up on the chase.
From the looks of it, Thami is about to make Noma sweat for taking away the crown from him.
Noma Khumalo of Pieter- maritzburg surpassed Thami Shobede from Mtubatuba in KwaZulu-Natal, with some 50000 votes of about 14 million cast at the Idols SA finale.
Consequently, Noma was declared winner of the popular singing competition on Sunday. Though the winner takes it all, Thami is not letting any of that hold him back from going after his dreams.
“I’m okay, I’m taking it better than I thought I would. I think it’s the pride of making it that far. I performed until there was nothing of me left to perform.
“My biggest letdown was realising that there’s nothing a runner-up gets. The winner takes everything, that hurt me a little, but I will get over it.”
What’s more, he has a lot of people believing him to slay in the industry. For the most part, Shobede is grateful for all the support that carried him through the top 10 up to the finals.
“I don’t have words for people who supported me, a simple thank you is not enough. They have been kind to me and still show me love, I see it in their eyes when they approach me … the hugs and the selfies we take. Sometimes it gets overwhelming but I appreciate it.”
Due to the nature of his contract for Idols, he cannot release an album until the winner has released hers. So, since Khumalo is scheduled to release hers next month, Thami’s album might be forthcoming too.
Aside making music, he also has his eyes set on TV and radio.
