Information from the South African Police Service (SAPS) has it that two teenage girls have been arrested for alleged murder.
Both girls are 17-years old. While the first was arrested for the stabbing to death a man who allegedly tried to rape her, the other was arrested for assaulting her mother who later died in a hospital.
The first girl was arrested by the Police in Maake, outside Tzaneen after she allegedly killed a 21-year-old man at Sofaya Village in the Sekororo area of the Maake Policing precinct.
As alleged, the teenager was heading to a local tavern when she met the 21-year-old man who wanted to rape her. She won’t let the man have his way. She fought back, overpowered and disarmed him of his knife, and then stabbed him to death.
According to SAPS, its members found the man with multiple stab wounds along the road during routine patrols.
While investigations are still ongoing, the teenage girl handed herself over to the Police and, is expected to appear before the Lenyenye Magistrate’s Court today.
The other girl was arrested in Thohoyandou Policing precinct. SAPS said she was arrested for the alleged killing of her 60-year-old mother at Tshivhungululu Village outside Thohoyandou.
As learnt, the deceased was reprimanding the teenage girl for not going to school. The girl overpowered and assaulted the women. She was rushed to a hospital where she later died.
SAPS said the teenager will soon appear before the Thohoyandou Magistrate’s Court.
Meanwhile, another 20-year-old suspect is expected to appear in the Mmabatho Magistrate’s Court today for the alleged rape of a 12-year-old minor.
The suspect was arrested after an intensive investigation. It’s said that the suspect called the minor who was on her way home from school, took her to the bushes and raped her.
The minor reported the incident to one of her teachers, the teacher informed the police and the suspect who lives near the victim’s place was subsequently arrested.
