Sphectacula and DJ Naves (the kings of the weekend) announced to a sad audience that they are ready to bid farewell to Metro FM after seven years of making listeners dance on weekends.

The SABC radio station is about to part ways with more jocks as the duo said they will host their last show this Saturday. They made the announcement on The Fresh Breakfast show with DJ Fresh.

“This Saturday will be our last show on Metro FM. We are taking a small break to focus on other things for now,” the duo announced.

Apparently, they felt it’s time to move out of their comfort zone and explore their horizon. Notwithstanding, it wasn’t an easy decision to make, but it had to be done for things to move to another level.

“No, it was not easy at all. There were many sleepless nights‚ including last night. But we have always been firm in terms of our plans and wanting to make things a success,” they said.

Speaking to DJ Fresh on the show, Sphectacula and DJ Naves expressed their gratitude to the public broadcaster. They also revealed that in the future, they might return to the station.

Meanwhile, SABC spokesperson Kaizer Kganyago confirmed the news, saying the broadcaster was currently in the process of appointing a replacement. However, he would not reveal who they were planning to appoint.

Sphectacula and DJ Naves join a slew of Metro FM hosts who recently bid farewell to the station. Glen Lewis, Unathi Msengana and Bonang Matheba are among the most recent presenters who resigned from Metro FM.

While some left to pursue their dreams, some others were not happy with the way things were being done at the station.
