Taking a look at the political figures that have so far walked the SONA red carpet, one is left to ponder if they are walking into a ballroom or a political enclave.
Moreover, considering the ‘show’ ahead of these MPs, one expects them to put on war-like regalia – at least, like the EFF – but the reverse is simply the case.
The number of MPs that have so far marched past the SONA red carpet all look pretty hot – hotter than what many of us saw last year.
So far, the Economic Freedom Fighters deputy leader Floyd Shivambu, EFF MP Marshall Dlamini, IFP MP Narend Singh, DA Mayor Patricia de Lille Joe Mcgluwa, DA leader in the North West, DA leader Mmusi Maimane and his wife Natalie have all crossed the red carpet.
Others who made it early to the event include ACDP’s Steve Swart and his wife Louise, Chairperson of IEC SouthAfrica Mr Vuma Mashinini, ANC MPs Hellen Kekana, Masefako Dikgale, ANC MP Lindiwe Maseko, and Mandla Mandela and wife Nosekeni Rabia.
Meanwhile, ahead of the much-anticipated State of the Nations Address (SONA), the leader of the ANC Women’s League (ANCWL), Bathabile Dlamini says the league will not hesitate to rescue President Zuma from the claws of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), should the Fighters disrupt the event.
This is Zuma’s last state of the nation address, as his presidential term is due to end in 2019.
