The deputy President of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), Floyd Shivamvu said Lindiwe Sisulu was moved from the defense ministry because she rejected the Guptas demand that a plane lease tender be awarded to their company.
Reports have it that the EFF deputy leader who was speaking during the party’s commemoration of Human Rights Day in Uitenhage tabled another allegation against the Gupta Family stating that the Minister of Human Settlements, Lindiwe Sisulu was pushed out of the defense portfolio because of her refusal to cooperate with the influential family.
Shivamvu alleged that the Guptas wanted Lindiwe Sisulu as the defense minister then, to hand them a R106 Billion tender that will allow them lease planes to the ministry, Sisulu refused to cooperate forcing the Guptas to influence her move from the ministry.
“We can tell you for free that the reason Lindiwe Sisulu was shifted from defense ministry to public service and admin, is because the Guptas want to have the tender to lease planes to defense for R106-billion,” Shivamvu stated.
According to the EFF deputy leader, Sisulu refused the offer because she wanted to buy cheaper plans, was removed from the ministry because of that, and that the Guptas got what they wanted after her removal.
“They have that tender now,” he said. “She wanted to buy cheaper planes, but the Guptas said no, we will sell you a plane for R4-billion. And when she refused, they shifted her to public service and administration,” the fighters deputy leader added.
Reporting this, ENCA related that Sisulu’s spokesperson said the minister would not comment on the EFF’s allegations and that the president said those who wanted to know if the claims were true, should approach the Guptas directly.
