South African Broadcasting corporation (SABC) has decided to look into complaints from listeners about the new crew on Metro FM mid-morning show.
The 8-10AM show dubbed – Whose Show Is It Anyway has received massive criticism on the social media from listeners.
Presenters Ntombi Ngcobo, Khanyi Mbau and Somizi Mhlongo recently debuted the show, causing an angry buzz among listeners.
A lot of listeners expressed varied opinion on Twitter about the trio. While some picked on Somizi saying he is more suited for the graveyard shift, others said the three are too loud to be listened to in the morning.
Some fans even threatened to migrate to other radio stations.
Therefore, SABC spokesman Kaizer Kganyago said management will have to look into the Metro FM mid-morning show.
“The show has been on air for just one week, and I think most of the negative comments about the show have been emotional.
“Obviously management would have to do a thorough evaluation of exactly what it is about the show that is causing the outcry, but they cannot just base their findings only on the audience’s reaction. But we’re aware of the negative comments about the show.”
Kganyago promised: “There will be many factors taken into consideration by management, including the public opinion that the show is too crowded.”
However, he pointed out that: “A lot goes into making a show, and we feel that a week is not enough time to determine exactly what is not working,” he said.
Speaking for the trio, Mbau tweeted that things will get better and promised they will improve.
Maybe one week is not enough to judge the show after all. And like Mbau said, things might just get better.
