Hawks celebrates victories against drug syndicates after they dismantled illegal drug labs across the country.
In a media statement, the National Head of the Hawks Lieutenant General Mthandazo Ntlemeza vowed to dismantle more illegal drug labs.
He related that Hawks across the country scored major victories against the drug syndicates and are now inspired to act more.
As learnt, the members of the Organised Crime in Pretoria dismantled a clandestine laboratory in Dukathole, Sandton.
Two Nigerian nationals, aged 32 and 39, were arrested at the scene. The value of the drug recovered is estimated to be R100 000.
Aside that, the Organised Crime members in Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal uncovered a hydroponic lab valued at R1.2 million in Peaken Farm, Merrivale.
One suspect was arrested for cultivating dagga and will appear before the Pietermaritzburg Magaistrate’s Court next week Monday.
Organised Crime Group To Be Dismantled
Speaking, Ntlemeza said: “Many of the raids on suburban drug homes were conducted as a result of crime intelligence.”
Tracking the money is another key to identifying these unknown syndicates as well as targeting their wealth. We are coming down hard on serious crime and drugs,” he added.
Not too long, Hawks busted a Detective Warrant Officer’s Drug Lab worth R105 million. The drug lab in De Deur Nigel was operated by the Detective Warrant Officer and four other suspects.
