There’s absolutely nothing wrong with wearing your own chopped hair to an event. Right? Jaden Smith?

The 18-year-old star cut his dreadlocks for a new film role, then he wore them to the MET Gala 2017. Though he’s known for expressing himself in his own special way, the teenager may have out-Jaden-ed himself this time.

At the event, Jaden, who is now rocking a low haircut, accesorised his outfit on the blue carpet with his old golden locks in his hands.

While the outfits on the annual Met Gala carpet ranged from the glamorous to the fabulous, Jaden’s outfit stood out from the crowd.

The actor and rapper who is also Will Smith’s son grinned as he flashed his blond dreadlocks while posing for the cameras.

And just when we thought there may be some good explanation to the weird accessory, Jaden revealed that he decided to bring his hair as his plus one. Since his sister Willow couldn’t make it, Jaden decided to bring the bunch of hair as his date.

In his explanation to Vogue red carpet stalwart André Leon, Jaden said: “And since I couldn’t bring my sister as a date, I brought my old hair.”

“Oh this is avant garde!” Leon responded.

In addition to the dreadlocks fashion accessory and his fancy grills, the teenager was clad in an all black outfit made up of a T-shirt, black trousers and a long jacket.

While some may find his unique fashion a bit disturbing, Jaden wore it with pride. For the most part, love it, hate it, or even creeped out by it, you have to hand it to Jaden Smith for being one of the most exciting guys to look out for on the blue carpet.
