The quest for the next SA Idol is almost over with the competition down to three talented singers who have won many hearts on the show. After making it to the top on Sunday, the trio – Paxton Fielies (16), Mthokozisi Ndaba (25) and Botlhale Phora (21), jetted off on a trip to London as part of the joy of getting into this round of the race. They were whisked away right after the last episode on Sunday.

So far, they have visited the London eye and also posed with ‘celebrities’ at Madame Tussauds.

As the competition draws nearer to the end, the Idols SA hopefuls were reduced from four to three on Sunday. The last episode kicked off with the four remaining contestants pairing with former Idols hopefuls for a round of duets. Phindy and Musa opened the floor with “We Can’t Be Friends” by Deborah Cox featuring RL. Next to take the stage was fan favourite Paxton who cried crying for the first time while performing “Stay” by Rihanna featuring Mikky Ekko alongside Kyle Deutsch. Mthokozisi and Thami followed afterwards with their rendition of Sam Smith and John Legend’s “Lay Me Down.”

Closing the show for the night was Botlhale, who paired up with Amanda Black singing “Sokwenzenjani” by Naima K featuring Robbie Malinga after which it was time to say goodbye. When Idols host Proverb announced the results, Phindy did not get enough votes to go to join the Idols SA top 3.

Two weeks from now, the country will find out who will wear the crown as South Africa’s Idol in 2017.
