Take Me Out Mzansi: Phat Joe Is Back On TV As Cupid

Controversial radio personality Phat Joe is set to make a TV comeback as host of popular dating game show Take Me Out Mzansi.

Phat Joe will be playing cupid in the new dating show on Vuzu Amp. Thus, he’s calling on all eligible bachelors to get ready to find the perfect partner for winter.

According to producers, Take Me Out Mzansi aims to be exciting and provocative, as well as funny.

“A single player is introduced to a panel of 30 girls or boys, and tries to persuade them to keep their lights on, so he or she can choose one for a potential date. The show provides an entertaining mix of comedy, jeopardy, surprises and possible romance.”

For the most part, first impressions do count as far as the show is concerned. If the members of the panel are not impressed, they can switch off their podium lights immediately, and if it’s a total “black out”, the player instantly goes home, without a date.

Again, while scoring well at first glance is a plus for the player, they’ll need to further impress the panel with skill, charm or hidden talents. Also, an interview with an overbearing mom or jealous ex may creep in, just to spice up the drama.

Once a match has been made, couples will be taken out on the ultimate date. The date will be captured on camera to be revealed on the next show.

Speaking on the new concept for the show, M-Net’s head of reality for local entertainment channels, Sphumelele Sibeko said:

“Viewers are in for a treat this July – Take Me Out Mzansi has all the ingredients for a weekly dose of great viewing: humour, surprises, romance and unadulterated fun. Phat Joe tops off an already perfect mix, to make for brilliant television.”
