Following a new gig on Kwazulu Natal’s commercial radio station East Coast Radio, TV and radio personality Phat Joe has left his Metro FM gig.
Apparently, Phat Joe whose real name is Majota Khambule feels it’s time to move on from his much-honoured gig on Metro FM.
Joe kicked off his new job on Monday afternoon. He will be heard on air as the host of the daily afternoon drive show weekdays; from 15:00 to 18:00.
“This is a really exciting opportunity for me. Not only will I get to chill in Durban, but I also get to interact with the cool listeners of East Coast Radio on a daily basis. I think we are going to have a lot of fun together,” Joe expressed his excitement about his new job.
Meanwhile, East Coast Radio Programming Manager Zane Derbyshire has confirmed that Joe has joined East Coast Radio.
“Yes, we can confirm that Phat Joe has left Metro FM to join East Coast Radio. The decision was a planned and thought through process to make sure it was a smooth transition for both Phat Joe and us,” Derbyshire explained.
“Phat Joe is a national talent, and well-known to many South Africans. This was an opportunity to bring a big star to the Durban shores, for our listeners. The opportunity to have Phat Joe join East Coast Radio has come about to bring KZN big talent.”
After Greed & Desire star Thato Molamu, Fat Joe is the latest big shot to join the East Coast Radio.
The radio jock is famous for hosting the early weekend morning radio show on Metro FM between 05:00 AM – 09:00 AM.
Though he is over the moon about the new gig, Phat Joe leaves a lot of fans with a broken heart.
