There’s another Limpopo fall awaiting the African National Congress. Reports have it that opposition parties in the Province have agreed to work together against ANC.
As learnt, the opposition parties will work together against ANC to oust the party from power.
BuzzSouthAfrica gathered that one of the two hung municipalities in Limpopo, Modimolle-Mookgopong, will be holding its first council meeting today.
As it is, the opposition parties altogether, have 15 seats whereas the ANC has 10 seats.
The opposition parties which includes the DA, EFF and Freedom Front Plus, have however, agreed to partner together.
Meanwhile, the council meeting for Thabazimbi will be held tomorrow. From all indication, the ANC in Limpopo is likely to lose the hung municipality as well.
Commenting on this, Neels du Preez – Freedom Front Plus Limpopo spokesperson confirmed that the opposition parties have agreed to work together.
“We had a caucus and we decided to co-operate and work together. All the opposition parties will co-operate to elect the structures for the municipality,” Du Preez stated.
With the coalition of the opposition parties, the Mayoral position will go to the DA in Modimolle-Mookgophong. In Thabazimbi, there are insinuations that the position will be held by a leader of Thabazimbi Residents Association.
Speaking on ousting of ANC from the municipalities they previously governed across the country, EFF’s lord – Julius Malema asserted that it’s a necessary slaughter.
He twitted: “Very proud of you fighters, we collapsed Kleptocracy. It was a necessary onslaught. History will absolve us, no retreat no surrender.”
Previously, the party stated that they gave the ANC a chance to dispense with institutionalized corruption by recalling Zuma.
“ANC knows that our people rejected it in Gauteng due to Zuma, the corruption in Nkandla and with the Guptas. Yet they still choose Zuma over keeping the Metros and other councils that they have lost.
We are unable to entrust any program of change on a kleptocratic organisation that protects and promotes corruption.”
Based on that, EFF charged all EFF Councillors to vote with opposition political parties to constitute the Executive Mayoral Committees.
That, to EFF, will begin a process that will completely remove the ruling African National Congress from government.
