Department of Correctional Services has confirmed that convicted murderer, Oscar Leonard Pistorius is serving his six-year sentence in a single cell room.
The department’s spokesperson, Manelisi Wolela, said Pistorius was given the special accommodation because of his disability. More so, the prison has never had a double amputee inmate before.
“He is in the same facility in the hospital section of the Pretoria prison,” Wolela stated.
The blade runner’s present cell room in Pretoria’s Kgosi Mampuru was the same room he previously occupied for one year after he was found guilty of culpable homicide.
In addition, Wolela disclosed that Pistorius’ stumps cannot be exposed to normal communal cells because “they will be vulnerable.
Meanwhile, the 29-year-old Paralympic champion is eligible for parole after serving between half to two-thirds of his sentence.
