The 2019 hit song “Jerusalema,” was the project that shot the Hamerdale-born star to prominence. Although her song with Ganyani, “Emazulwini,” did well in its own right, “Jerusalema” literally pushed Zikode to the frontline in the music industry and earned her global recognition.

She co-wrote “Jerusalema” with Master KG. The song was a sensation and even debuted #1 on Billboard Music charts and Apple Music charts. In South Africa and Africa in general, Jerusalem gained fast popularity and became a street anthem. It also went viral in the international community, becoming everyone’s favorite for gymnastics and other fun moments.

“Jerusalema” was first officially remixed sometime in 2020 (featuring Burna Boy & Nomcebo Zikode). The second remix was also released in the same year. This time it featured Micro TDH & Greeicy & Nomcebo Zikode.

“Xola Moya wam” was first released as the album’s lead single. It featured Master KG and was certified gold certification by the Recording Industry of South Africa in the first two weeks. It also peaked at number 1 on Apple Music Chart & iTunes Chart.

August 21, 2020, was the exact day she dropped her first album, and it featured Master KG, Makhadzi, and Bongo Beats. The album was certified platinum one month after it was released with sales of 150 000 copies.

Zikode became a subject of discussion again across several social media platforms on July 11, 2021, after she alleged that she wasn’t paid for her feature on “Jerusalema” by her label Open Mic Productions.
