Born in 1982, Lerato Kganyago is a South African television presenter. Lerato was born in Soweto, South Africa, where she grew.
She began her education with a certificate from Ipolokeng Primary school. After finishing her primary education, Kganyago proceeded to Boksburg High School where she matriculated. She then went to Damelin College where she obtained a Diploma in Travel and Tourism, and Public Relations.
Kganyago began as a model before going into TV presenting. Her modeling career seemed to be heading to the skies when she won the public eye with her wining of Miss Jam Alley in 2002. The beauty pageant was organized by SABC 1’s music variety show. The following year she reached the finals of the Miss City Press contest. Not ready to slow down, the gorgeous TV star went on to win the Miss Soweto crown in 2005.
She was engaged to South African football player, Katlego Mashego, whom she dated for four years. The engagement however didn’t lead to marriage as the duo later broke up “amicably”. Shortly after the breakup, Lerato had a miscarriage which left her distraught for some time.
In 20013, Lerato Kganyago underwent a surgery as a result of fibroid in her womb. The Star indicated that the two fibroids were getting as large as tennis balls so she decided to have them removed.
Lerato made her foundation as a TV presenter, when she joined Soweto TV. Before that however, she had had some experience on Jozi FM with DJ Hluks and she as well appeared on Phat Joe Show.
With the Gauteng community television station, Soweto TV, Lerato hosted a show, The LKG Show, which she took over in 2008. In 2012, she consolidated on the foundation she built on Soweto TV when she accepted a position on the show, The Link. The programme was aired on SABC1 as a life style magazine show.
In April 2016, Lerato replaced as the co host of SABC 1’s music show, live Amp.
As much as possible, Lerato has always kept away from controversies, which has earned her much respect among South Africans. She was however, caught in one, with True love magazine.
True Love magazine, a fashion magazine in South Africa released Lerato Kganyago photos which were not edited after snapshots. This was as a result of the magazine being criticized on social media for too much use of Photoshop on her picture that graced the cover page of the magazine.
The move pushed the magazine into deeper controversy as the act was seen as spiteful and very much needless.
In the controversy, the TV star said very little, as the whole thing was handled by her fans and other South Africans including the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) who spoke out against the magazine.
She has been involved in various things apart from show hosting. She is involved in events management trough her company; Black Angel, and she was a partner in the FTV (Centurion) franchise.
Lerato has deals with both government and private institutions. Such deals include one with Guateng department of Education. Others are with Revlon, Tropica, Always Ultra and Silver Star casino. She also stands as the face of Jawa Productions in Lesotho.
