Dineo Ranaka is a South African Video and Audio presenter; she has gained her grounds and huge following from working with the top South African TV and Radio Stations.
Dineo Ranaka was born on the 16th of December 1983, in Soweto, Johannesburg. She is the younger sister to Manaka Ranaka; who is an actress in South Africa. Though Dineo is not married, she has two kids (a son and a daughter), who were brought up with the help of her parents.
Dineo has a reality show titled ‘Dineo’s Diary’; which is one of the longest running reality shows in South Africa. The show is basically about her life and she hopes to teach the world a few things regarding being yourself, personal finance, romance and lots more.
On radio, she has her own show called ‘Dineo Live on Drive’. The three hours show is presented on Yfm daily (weekdays) from 3pm to 6pm. On TV, she used to co-presents a music show alongside Moeti ‘No Flava’ Tsiki. The show which is called ‘Club 808: Make Some Noise’ airs on e.tv.
Dineo’s success as a radio presenter started at Yfm, before she started hosting a primetime show (Dineo Live on the Drive), she was presenting the Weekend Breakfast Show. The Weekend Breakfast show became a success; which earned Dineo the ticket to move onto other important shows within the station.
With the growth in her audience and followership, Dineo’s Live on The Drive Show took over from Chilli M’s show. When Dineo took over from Chilli, there were doubts that she would not live up to the expectations. Fortunately for her, she proved everyone wrong; as she did not only live up to the expectations, but did over and beyond what was required.
Dineo’s show grew the radio’s listenership by an extra one hundred and fifty thousand new listeners. She also became the radio’s first lady and Radio Dj to have her own afternoon drive time show. The success of the show did not just grow the stations listenership, but also increased its advertising and sponsorship engagements.
Dineo was part of the 2010 e.tv’s lifestyle and music entertainment show; which was launched with a youth audience demographic in mind. The show which was said by the executive producer to be: Fresh, Contemporary, Fun, Flirty and lightly irreverent is called ‘Club 808: Make Some Noise’. Dineo alongside Mo Flava were the presenters of the show.
Dineo Ranaka (@DineoRanaka) was attacked on twitter in July 2016, after her response to a student asking her for help went viral. The student by the name ‘Dimpho Mnisi’ (@Miss_Mnisi) tweeted at Dineo asking her to help with a matric farewell dress, but was shut down by Dineo who replied back saying: “A matric dance should be the VERY least of your stresses”.
Dineo immediately received negative comments from her followers, for making such a statement. The situation also led to Dineo’s PR agency dropping her over the situation.
On the other hand, regardless of the negative situation, Dimpho Mnisi eventually gained from the twitter drama; as she got various offers from people willing to help and even a funding offer from the University of Johannesburg.
