ANC 54th National Conference: Meet The 80 Members Elected To The NEC

The newly elected ANC National Executive Council (NEC) members were announced at the close of the governing party’s 54th annual conference which ended on Thursday.

The announcement of the 80 party’s highest decision-making body between conferences was made after the newly elected ANC President Cyril Ramaphosa delivered his inaugural speech.

Cyril Ramaphosa, at the close of the 54th national elective conference at Nasrec in Johannesburg, touched the hearts of South Africans with his heartwarming speech spiced with the right choice of words every South African would want to hear.

Among his strong words were the decision to fight corruption and the issue of land reform and redistribution.

Ramaphosa said that the people of South African wanted action and not words and would judge the success of the conference on what happened after. He said he would work with the top ANC 6 and the newly elected ANC NEC to ensure that South African are satisfied.

Speaking further, the ANC president also assured South Africans of a bigger and better economy with employment boost in the years to come.

“This conference has resolved that corruption must be fought with the same intensity and purpose that we fight poverty, unemployment, and inequality,” he told delegates at the end of the five-day conference.

“We must also act fearlessly against alleged corruption and abuse of office within our ranks,” he said, acknowledging that the gathering had approved the seizure of land without compensation, but he cautioned against undermining the economy and food production.
