Serving as the creator and executive producer of one of South Africa’s longest-serving soapies, Duma Ndlovu has used the storylines of Muvhango to establish a legacy of drama and action. The show essentially reveals the discrepancies between the way of life of city dwellers and the way of life of the more rural individuals who hold fast to the tenets of their traditional beliefs.
The series takes place in Johannesburg and the essentially rural village of Thathe, where the lives of the royal family of Mukwevho are a source of particular interest, especially that of the family patriarch and village chief Azwindini Mukwevho.

One of The Show’s Longest Serving Characters Is Leaving The Show, But There have been No New Additions
Elsie Rasalanavho, who portrays the character of Vho-Mukondeleli Mukwevho, came out a few weeks ago to announce that she was calling time on her presence on the set of the show. Even though the show, which celebrated its 25th anniversary in April, has witnessed numerous cast members leaving the show over the years, Mama Elsie’s departure was greeted with sadness by the numerous fans of the show.
Rasalanavho’s departure remains the sole exit over the last three months. However, the show has relatively maintained the core of its cast members, including the majority of the members who have been there since the show’s inception over a quarter of a century ago.
