Ahead of the vote of no confidence in President Jacob Zuma, outspoken ANC MP Makhosi Khoza has received another evidence of death threat against her.

For some time, Khoza has been raising alarm over continuous threats against her and her family members – including a march to her house by the ANC Youth League.

The death threats started after she criticised the ANC government for abandoning 11 million South Africans that voted the party to power.

ANC MP Makhosi Khoza also spoke out against corruption, state capture and President Jacob Zuma’s scandal-plagued administration. Last month, she called on ANC MPs to vote based on their conscience during the vote of no-conference in Zuma, slated for August 8.

Last week, she told participants at a debate in Cape Town that her daughter and some other members of her family have also received death threats from unknown persons.

“Even today, by the way, today, they didn’t send their threat to me. They sent it to my daughter, my daughter. And why should I die in silence? We’ve had the judiciary’s office broken into and the NPA. Are all those coincidences? Are we operating in a normal environment? I want to say no, we are not,” Khoza said.

On Sunday, the social media was abuzz with supports for the embattled MP after she narrated how she has been neglected by the police after reporting about fresh threats against her.

She wrote on Facebook: “This is what I go through every day. Now I am told I have 21 days to live. I have reported to the police but nothing has happened!”

On Saturday, the Black First Land First president Andile Mngxitama refuted claims that a member of the movement was behind the threats.

Mngxitama’s response comes after a Twitter user Nic Haralambous wrote that his True Caller app identified the number from which the threatening messages were sent as ‘Blf’.

Haralambous’s tweet reads: “I popped the number into the TrueCaller app on Android and you’ll never believe what it showed. He validated his claims by attaching a screenshot of the search result.

True Caller is a free app available to Android and Apple users and picks up the name a number is saved under on any user’s phone that has True Caller installed.

Mngxitama told reporters on Saturday morning that because BLF does not threaten blacks, regardless of their affiliation.

“We don’t regard Khoza as a political anything‚ she is just loud and irrelevant plus she is black so we won’t under any circumstances threaten her. Our movement defends all blacks‚ even those we disagree with. So there must be a white person trying to cause s**t for BLF,” he said.
