Ayanda Daweti (born 1990) is a South African actor, musician, and fashion entrepreneur best known for playing Chumani Langa in Scandal, the popular South African TV series.
Ayanda, who goes by the stage name Tuckshop Bafanaz, has also featured in the popular soapie Gomora and has released more than nine songs. He won the Golden Horn Award for the Best Made TV Movie in 2018 at the South African Film and Television Award – thanks to his film, Okae Molao.
Ayanda Daweti Was Born and Raised In Tsolo
Born to Nomalizo Daweti, his mother, who died due to heart complications in her sleep, the year 1990 witnessed the arrival of Ayanda Daweti on this blue marble planet in the South African town of Tsolo, where he was also raised. Nothing much is known about his father or any possible siblings. Unfortunately, his mother, who was there for him, did not stay for so long.
After his mother’s death which happened when he was 13 years old, he moved to Mhlakulo with Stella Sondaba, his Aunt, and grandmother Nomonde Sondaba. A few years down the line, he moved to Johannesburg. After his matric, he relocated to Cape Town, where he studied IT; before going on to study Arts at the Tshwane University of Technology, Pretoria.

Though popular for playing the role of Chumani Langa on the e.TV soap opera Scandal Ayanda Daweti made his debut in the entertainment industry in 2009 and has featured in several other movies. However, featuring in Scandal! made him famous.

As a tribute to his girlfriend, Xola, whom he dated from 2007 until her tragic death in a car accident in 2010, Ayanda wrote and sang the song ” Xola.
