Not long past, the Democratic Alliance (DA) party and many South Africans celebrated the death of SA’s most infamous criminal, Ananias Mathe.
Now, BuzzSouthAfrica has learnt that the country’s prison system might be having major headaches from another criminal who has exhibited skills to escape from prison like Mathe.
The Western Cape police revealed that a convicted murderer escaped from the Groot Drakenstein Prison, between Paarl and Franschhoek.

From our gatherings, the criminal – Lwandile Yeko – was serving a 25-year sentence for two murders, housebreaking, and car theft.
According to Lieutenant Colonel Andre Traut, it was discovered on Tuesday that Yeko was no longer in his cell.
Traut said the police are investigating how he managed to escape. However, it has been reported that he escaped after he cut through the bars of his window.
Yeko was sentenced to 25 years in September 2008 for the murder and attempted murder.
Then, the judge that presided over his case remarked that he escaped being sentenced to life imprisonment because of his age.
The South African Police Service (SAPS) has called on anyone with information about his whereabouts to contact Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
Meanwhile, the SAPS in a separate statement warned South Africans to be always vigilant while at crematorium.
“With the recent incident at Clare Estate where the mourners were robbed of their belongings, the SAPS in KwaZulu-Natal have issued a warning to all the members of the public to always be vigilant while at crematorium.
It is alleged on 16 January 2017, at approximately 17:10, the victim was at a funeral with his family members at the Clare Estate Crematorium, when they were accosted by a group of armed suspects.
At gunpoint they robbed them of six cellphones, clothing and cash. This was an isolated incident however the SAPS is concerned about the safety of the citizens of this province.” Read the statement.
