In October 2020, Katlego Maboe’s former partner, Monique Muller posted a video where the actor confessed to cheating on her while pregnant with a former OUTsurance employee, Nikita Murray. She stated in the video that she contracted STD, Human papillomavirus infection from him. The video immediately went viral and afterward, Monique’s brother, Seth Muller posted on his Instagram story that Katlego had physically abused his sister. Monique later confirmed the allegation in another video she posted, alleging that she had been physically abused by the TV presenter and as a result, had gotten a protection order against him.

Katlego Maboe later revealed in one of his Instagram posts that though he cheated on his partner which he had regrets about, he never abused her physically. Despite his efforts to clear the air, Maboe’s career hit the rocks when he was relieved of his duty as the co-host of Expresso by Cardova Productions on October 23rd, 2020, with the production company condemning any acts of violence and mistreatment, especially against children and women. He was temporarily suspended, pending the outcome of the investigation of the allegations against him.
