Singer and actress Janet Jackson and her husband, Wissam Al Mana, a Qatari businessman, have welcomed their bundle of joy just in time to start a great new year.
Jackson, 50 and Al Mana, 47 welcomed their first child on Tuesday, her spokesperson said. The pop star was delivered of a healthy baby boy named Eissa Al Mana on Tuesday following a “stress-free” delivery.
“Janet had a stress-free healthy delivery and is resting comfortably,” read the star’s official statement by a rep. However, the statement did not provide further details.
Shortly after Jackson who is the younger sister of late pop king Michael Jackson halted a global tour in April last year to announce that she and her husband were “planning our family,” it was confirmed that the star was already expecting her first child.
She posted a video on Twitter at the time asking fans to bear with her while she took care of some important matters.
“I thought it was important that you be the first to know,” she said, adding – “Please, if you can try and understand that it’s important that I do this now.”
Later in October, a picture of the middle-aged star was published. She was captured on the beach holding her baby bump. Jackson and her husband whose company sells luxury fashion brands throughout Gulf Arab kingdoms had been discreet about their relationship. Thus, the star did not immediately publicize her 2012 marriage to the tycoon Al Mana,
Initially, getting pregnant was ruled out for the couple since Jackson has already advanced in age. At her age, natural pregnancies are highly unusual, but not entirely impossible. Modern technology with the help of in vitro fertilization can make it possible for women to have children anytime they want.
Jackson who is a seven-time Grammy award winner released her first album, Janet Jackson, in 1982. She has a total of 11 albums with the most recent, Unbreakable, released in 2015.
