Currently, in its fourth season, Imbewu: The Seed is one of the most popular South African soap operas. It has attained millions of viewership with its intriguing storyline that focuses on the ties that bind families through blood and spirit. In the episodes released in September, there were intense drama and suspense. Nirupa struggled to stay alive after being shot at a wedding party by assassins sent by Zenzele. Though she managed to survive the attack, the hired assassins were still after her life.

The root of hatred springs up between Buhle and Zenzele. Even though Zenzele pitches a dream future to her, which got her thinking about their life together, he is actually making plans to kill her.

Buhle makes a threat to shoot MaZulu with Zenzele’s gun at the Maluju Oil event. With Sebenzile asking Phakade to inform her first when he finally decides the ultimatum from the church, he finds himself under pressure; whether to choose his wife or his wife’s sister.

Sebenzile, Khanyo, and Buhle invite Fikile’s favorite celebrity to her birthday party. After escaping from prison, Thokozile appears at KaMadonsela’s window, making her terrified. The family learns about the prison break. Meanwhile, a search party is being assembled, and police arrive to address it. Will the search party find out Thokozile’s whereabout?

Lulu ponders on whether to accept or reject Landile’s apology. Nkululeko gets stunned by Shria’s request to buy an expensive car for Fikile. Nkulukelo seems to be concerned about Nompi’s revelations. As a result, he collects Fikile’s hair from her hairbrush and tries to find out her DNA composition.

One of the teasers for this last October episode of Imbewu: The Seed is that Nkulukelo plans on burying his mother in a communal cemetery. He seeks Buhle’s help as his mother’s family won’t be of help to him. Fikile receives her test results and is greeted with bad news. The results reveal that she might be infertile as she has endometriosis.
Imbewu TV Series Was Launched in 2018
Created by Duma Ndlovu, whose name has been synonymous with excellence in the TV show arena, Imbewu: The Seed premiered on e.tv on April 16th, 2018. The series plot seeks to ask sobering and controversial questions, which are important to all the cultures in South Africa, as it focuses on the ties that bind families through blood and spirit. The show was filmed in KwaZulu-Natal and Durban. It was produced by Grapevine Productions, which is a partnership venture between Word of Mouth Pictures, Videovision Entertainment, and Luyks Productions.
While Duma Ndlovu owns Word of Mouth Pictures, Anant Singh serves as the owner of Videovision Entertainment. Anant and Leleti Khumalo are the executive producers of Imbewu: The Seed. The show’s original languages are IsiZulu and English. In 2020, Imbewu won the South African Film and Television Audience Award for Most Popular Soap Opera.
Actors That Joined Imbewu: The Seed in 2021
Over the years, Imbewu fans have witnessed the exit of some of their actors and, equally, the addition of new actors to the cast. Thus far, in 2021, there has been no exit from the show. However, two actors recently joined Imbewu‘s cast. In August 2021, Nkosinathi Maphalala (aka Nay Maps) was introduced to the popular soapie. He portrays the character of Zenzele Maphumulo. He serves as a replacement for Mlungisi Shabala, who first played the role of Zenzele in the show. Besides Imbewu, Maphalala has featured in Uzalo and The Queen.
Later in September 2021, Selby “Selbeyonce” Mkhize debuted in the soapie, portraying the character of Lulu Mtshali, a receptionist at Ishongololo Oil Company. He was reportedly introduced to the show to tackle LGBTQ+ issues as he has been openly gay. Selby, who works as a presenter at Ukhozi FM, has also scored roles in Uzalo and Generations: The Legacy.

Having attracted a massive South African audience with its unique and suspenseful plot, fans can always watch the evergreen soap opera on e.tv from Mondays to Fridays at 21h30. The cross-cultural drama series also airs on eExtra on weekdays (Monday to Friday) at 10h15. It was previously aired on the channel at 22h15, but the TV series broadcast time has currently changed.
