Singer Kelly Khumalo and her team are currently seeking legal counsel following a fake pregnancy report that emerged on Monday, causing quite a frenzy on social media.
The singer found her name topping Twitter trends list after a story published on a satire news site claimed that Kelly was pregnant. And wait for it… According to the site, the singer got pregnant by her counterpart Khaya Mthethwa.
The report on Live Monitor South Africa read;
“The cat was let out of the bag when Kelly Khumalo posted a positive pregnancy test result on Instagram with the caption ‘Lil Khaya”’.
Meanwhile, Kelly’s team slammed the reports. According to her team, the reports are just a figment of someone’s imagination. In fact, they are looking into the possibility of taking legal action against the parties involved in spreading such rumours.
“We were alerted to a Twitter trend blatantly stating that our client Kelly Khumalo is pregnant with Khaya Mthethwa’s (child). We as Kelly Khumalo’s management are take (sic) this allegation very seriously and we will be seeking legal counsel on this matter,” a statement from Kelly’s team reads.
Apparently, being the subject of such malicious rumours can do a number on someone and singer Kelly is no exception. Thus, taking to Twitter, singer Kelly Khumalo opened up about the pain that the report has caused her. She also pleaded with fans to stop toying with her matter.
“I don’t understand why or how people can be so hurtful. I am not dating anyone, I am not pregnant. I am not your social media toy,” she tweeted.
Just last week, Kelly posted a snapshot of herself with Asine hitmaker Khaya Mthethwa. Kelly jokingly captioned the picture – “sitting next to bae”.
But that was all the info needed by Twitter users to come to the conclusion that Khaya is on a highway to premature death. In other words, dating Kelly means your name is written on death note.
