The Democratic Alliance has once more promised to deliver beyond everyone’s expectation if voted in, but this time there is a more assuring promise attached to it – DA’s Maimane will resign if the party fails to do as it promised.
These were the words of the DA party leader Mmusi Maimane who told residents in Nelson Mandela Bay that his party is the only one that can deliver on its promises – and if it doesn’t, he will resign.
Maimane who was speaking at Booysens Park, in one of the most hotly contested metros in the country, tongue-lashed the ANC, saying its leader, Jacob Zuma was “fundamentally corrupt”, and that the party had failed the people in job creation.
DA’s Maimane then added that only the Democratic Alliance is capable of providing jobs and correcting other mishaps in the country.
“I’m so invested in the DA, we the DA must deliver and if we don’t, I myself will resign,” he told residents.
“We are the only government that can deliver, the ANC has long neglected the people. Our focus is to create work particularly in the Northern Areas because people just don’t find work,” Maimane said.
Major Municipalities Slips From ANC’s Grip
As the local government elections draws closer, campaigns in the metro has become intense with political parties taking on door to door message to ensure a complete victory afterwards.
However, the ruling ANC seems to be losing its grip on some major municipalities like the Nelson Mandela Bay. Polls result shows that the party might be losing the municipality to a sure-win for the DA.
The polls said that the DA is the leading party in the metro, and is likely to snatch the city away from the ANC in August 2016. Not renting in their efforts, Politicians from all major parties – including the ANC and EFF – have been in the province to rally support.
