Hot 91.9 FM is currently in a mourning mood as the station confirms the death of radio veteran Gavin Singh.
The radio jock died on Thursday afternoon at around 4pm after suffering a heart attack. An official statement by Hot 91.9fm on Friday morning confirmed the passing of the popular radio host.
The radio station broke the news through a statement on Friday morning by Managing Director, Lloyd Madurai.
“I deliver this statement on behalf of Hot 91.9fm with an incredible sense of sadness and disbelief. Today we mourn the tragic loss of a gentle soul, with a kind heart, who we were truly blessed to have spent each day with. Gavin, your tragic loss has left us with a feeling of emptiness and hurt and whilst this time will not be easy, together as a Hot 91.9 family we will get through this together,” said Madurai.
According to reports, medical staff tried to revive Gavin during the attack but were unsuccessful in their attempts. Consequently, Gavin Singh passed away at 4:20 pm on Thursday.
Fellow radio personalities and devastated fans have paid tribute to the presenter who was loved by many. Jeremy Mansfield said one needs to question their mortality as he was shocked by the news of Singh’s death.
“So sad to hear the news last night of the passing of Gavin Singh. For years he used to take over from my show on Highveld. Just makes you question your own mortality. He was younger than me and had a heart attack. Go well ‘Singhthing’. It was a privilege to have worked with you,” Mansfield said.
Other well-known personalities including Mark Pilgrim; Leanne Manas and fans of the radio host also sent their condolences.
