Some Actors Have Left Gomora For Various Reasons
Even though the show is in its second season, there have been notable departures from a series that the viewing public is gradually starting to warm up to. The departure of some of these actors from the series has been chalked down to various reasons, but mostly down to personal reasons. That said, let’s look at some of the actors that left Gomora and why they opted to do so below.
One of the more experienced actors on the show, Israel, played the role of Don, who was the husband of Zodwa, played by Sannah Mchunu. Israel decided to leave after complaining of distress in his legs. Apparently, he had suddenly found it difficult to move about comfortably on set and even required a wheelchair at times.
According to the actor, he required medical attention, which led him to leave the Gomora project. His character, Don, was disposed of in a dramatic style by the show’s runners. On the show, he was shot and killed at point-blank range.
Siyabonga Xaba played the role of Langa in the show and had to leave to focus more on his duties as a director. Although he promised a quick return to the silver screens, there has been no indication that it will be on the set of Gomora. The actor has the movie Carrots credited to him with some of the cast members on Gomora featuring in the movie.
The actor’s departure from Gomora was truly surprising given that he was one of the show’s top performers. Evidently, the reason for his departure was that he couldn’t agree to terms with the show’s runners with regards to his contract.
He played the character Mohato, a hardened criminal who had just been released from prison. These days Msibi has found a new home in Mzansi’s Uzalo and continues to add to his acting profile.
There Has Been No New Additions
So far, the series which has grabbed the heart of many South Africans has had no new additions. However, there is a touted return of actress Chume Connie, who played the character MamSonto.
The actress’ character was placed in a coma because she had to go to the US for the shooting of the sequel to the much-celebrated movie Black Panther. Aside from her, every other thing remains the same on the show.
The Show Has A Unique Production Team
The cast and other crew members of any movie or TV production would be lost without the astute guidance and direction that a production team provides. Gomora has been blessed with a fantastic crew that includes seasoned writers such as Chris Q Radebe, Gwydion Bynon, and Phathutshedzo Makwarela.
It also has the privilege of benefitting from the creative spark that comes from directors like Banda, Andries Mahlatse, and Zeno Pieterson. To top off this group of talented artists is the production company Seriti Films. Among its ranks of producers are executive producers Kutlwano Ditsele, Leanne Kumalo, Thabang Moleya, and Lulu Hela.
Gomora First Premiered In 2020
