Members of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) in KwaZulu-Natal have demanded an immediate resignation of Deputy President Floyd Shivambu.
The group say he is the reason for the party’s poor performance during the local government elections

Speaking during a briefing held in Durban on Saturday; the EFF members raised their concerns with the party’s national leadership.
A Councillor candidate for eThekwini’s Ward 26; Mthandeni Zungu; who spoke on behalf of the group alleged that the party needs to ‘fix’ its leaders at national level.
“We must fix our leaders at national because we can see our leaders are broken. Our CIC (commander in chief) we can see that he is on his own.”
Floyd Shivambu Misused EFF’s Campaign Fund
Zungu called on the national leadership to suspend the party’s deputy president because “Malema doesn’t have a deputy president”. The group also demanded that Floyd Shivambu must explain why he misused the money allocated for election campaigning purposes in the province.
The councillor lamented that some members who bought the party’s T-shirt during election campaigns are yet to be reimbursed due to the party’s deficient budget system.
He disclosed that they decided to voice out their grievances through the media because they weren’t able to secure effective communication link with the national leader; claiming that was why they vent their grievances through the media.
In response, EFF national leadership downplayed the “bogus” conference; alleging that the group was sponsored by the African National Congress (ANC).
Former Generation actor and EFF’s new MP Fana Mokoena also condemned the bogus media briefing. Speaking on Sunday in a statement, Mokoena disclosed that the briefing [which was attended by less than 20 people] was organized by certain former leaders of the organisation in KZN; in a bid to mislead people.
“We know who is sponsoring them. Once more the ANC is bankrolling what they perceive to be a way of destroying their REAL opposition. The ANC must be ashamed.
The EFF will not harbour enemies within its ranks. These members, by acting outside of the culture; structures; codes and processes they signed up for when they joined the EFF; have effectively expelled themselves. We will not tolerate ill-discipline,” the party said in a statement.
Mokoena said he is certain the group will die a natural death just as ‘Save the Soul of the EFF’ did.
